Without that USAF F-104 pilot, Capt Christopher, and his son, there could've been no Star Fleet, and no Capt Kirk.
At least maybe not in the canon ST:TOS universe.

The International F-104 Society site has updated its accident report and photos of USAF F-104C C/N 183-1243, S/N 57-0926 / FG-926, one of the F-104s seen in ST:TOS (Star Trek: The Original Series), S1 E19 (Season 1, Episode 19).

ps.... Babylon 5 for the win! :D
au contraire mon ami...
Allow me to quote from the very first, seminal post on this topic: "...IMO, Captain Kirk rules the galaxy".
Clearly, aside from the obvious factual correctness of this statement, this discussion [for the last 21 months, no less!) is IMHO most certainly on topic. After all, the title of this discussion isn't "F-104s in Babylon 5".

Maybe Jimmy Stewart for a knighthood, not Patrick!
He played a captain like Piccard was a ponce....after all, what kind of Captain would have his shrink sit next to him on the bridge?
Whats next, a Health and Safety officer? :D
There are several reasons why I never watched TNG (like I have a life), and he's one of them.
Come on, the old "robot wants to be human" routine...not only is that a rip off of old science fiction stories...and The Twlight Zone, but Pinocchio as well. Not to mention the Tin Man in The Wizard of Oz...
I can't believe HRH, QE the Duece, gave a Knighthood to that seasoned old ham...:D That reminds me, what's for dinner?
If anyone here's bored sleepless on a, well, boring Sunday afternoon, here's a small challenge: try identifying the medals and ribbons on the USAF Special Police Staff Sergeant's uniform, or something. 8b

The new Battlestar Galactica beat them both. I still love the old Star Trek, but don't forget how the F-16 came to be called "Viper"...

(Moving mouse pointer towards Report Post icon to complain to the mod that even the mod is off-topic, so the mod would ban himself...)
Seriously, I was wondering whether other jet fighters, with readable serial numbers, ever appeared in other ST (TOS or not) episodes?

Proof of Kirk's universality resides in the fact that, superb as it was, no one produced a video, "Babylon 5 as the A Team", whereas:

While there was no "John Sheridan meets Monty Python", but there was:
