Just been sitting on the local common watching the Surrey Hills Gliding Club enjoy the good weather. Two types I could identify thermaling overhead and which are surely fodder for these pages now, Schleicher K-6 and ASK-18. There was also a modern Grob glassfibre type and, thermaling beyond the southern end of the airfield, another couple of high wing types.

Had hoped to hear and possibly glimpse a Spit returning to nearby Biggin but sadly not...

Pembroke overhead Amersham, routing into Northolt for this evening's photo-call. (15 .13)

Takes me back to the seventies when 207 Sqdn operated Pembrokes at Northolt, and up 1988, when the 60 Sqdn aircraft would visit from Wildenrath, and they would come grinding out, past Denham, over the Chalfonts and then off en route.

Today at Duxford...a two-seat Spitfire and two-seat Buchon...they even followed each other around the patter for awhile....it looked like the Spit had him in his sights.

    Just another day at Duxford.
There are two sides to every story. The truth is usually somewhere between the two.

Something with deep drone-y turboprops flew over South London a little after 11am today - 10/10ths clag obscured the view and couldn't see anything on ADSB Exchange or FR24, pretty sure it wasn't an An12 or 26, could have been a pair of Tynes - Transall or Atlantic?

Just noticed on ADS-B the Lanc seems to have popped across the North Sea and is presently approaching Rotterdam.

This was working the local pattern earlier today...

The Lanc flew with the Anson today at Old Warden, - never seen that before.

It is reported she trudged back to Conningsby with a prop feathered, though the above photo does not make that clear.

Spotted around 1640 today whilst on the A1, 99% C-17/5% C-5 low level, seemingly on a track from RAF Wyton-RAF Alconbury-Raf Molesworth. Any ideas.

Lancaster twice over Stokenchurch, Bucks, what a sound saw whilst visiting the site of a Halifax crash. This afternoon 2 Tiger Moths and a chipmunk at various times, over Thame, Oxon.

I have had the pleasure of seeing assorted Spitfires flying over home (Lewes, E.Sussex) on the last three Friday afternoons - usually heading roughly westwards around 5pm. Usually a singleton, but last week (4th May) it was a pair.

This Friday (11th May) I saw one Spitfire head in the opposite direction (south/south east) mid-morning, and presumably it was the same one that returned westbound later in the afternoon.

I assume they may be Boultbee Spitfires returning to Goodwood after giving pleasure flights at Headcorn or Duxford earlier in the day.

Always a pleasure to hear the deeper rumble of a Merlin approaching, rather than the usual noise of GA types operating out of Shoreham.

The Sea Fury appeared overhead here - South Oxfordshire - a few minutes later. Approached fast from the north east and rather randomly performed a loop over Grove Technology Park (the former Grove airfield). Continued on its journey westward, presumably returning to Yeovilton.
