    JF-17 vs J-10 vs LCA

How do these aircraft compare to each other? and to more popular aircraft like F-16 or Mig-29?

Not much to say - the Tejas & JF-17 are very similar aircraft. Similar size, similar payload, similar avionics, similar flight characteristics with the comparison holding even as they evolve (Blk 3 ~ Mk1A).

The J-10 is considerably larger - a Rafale/F-16E class fighter, though somewhat under-powered in comparison.

    Total combat effectiveness:
    J-20 - 1.28
    J-31 - 1.3
    J-10 - 0.85
    FC-1 - 0.88

If FC-1 is better then why did China buy J-10 only?

And if J-20 is only 0.43 more "combat effective" than a J-10, then why bother developing J-20 in the first place... or if FC-31 (not J-31) is more combat effective than J-20 then why has the PLAAF still not adopted an FC-31 variant for themselves?

But I think paralay's just kidding...

The difference is not essential. The ability of a pilot in this system is 0.05 - 0.15
The J-10 is unified in the engine with J-11, so they chose him

Do I have to play the role of F-18 Hamburger here? Obviously these are just fantasy numbers.

Just for kicks, I'd be interested in seeing your relative comparison, of say Flanker family vs Fulcrum family, and say, F-15 variants vs F-16 variants vs F-22 and F-35

J-10 is a Rafale made in China
    Fc-1 = Chinese F-16 Block 50/52
LCA is Mirage 2000 made in India

    Trolling obviously.

At least contribute something to a thread instead of trying to incite people.

J-10 shouldn't be in the list. It is more of a medium fighter.

Better comparison would be Gripen Vs Tejas Vs JF-17 Vs FA-50

What a stupid calculation. Maybe you also add the age of the pilot minus it's number of kids added by a factor of how many aircraft build the factory divided by the ambient air temperature on December 24th.

Regarding the comparison I proposed "Gripen Vs Tejas Vs JF-17 Vs FA-50", hands down I'd go with the Gripen. AAM alone it can carry AIM-120, Iris-T Meteor and the South African version can carry A-Darter. When it comes agility at least at airshows (with the exception of the classic Su-27) it has one of the tightest minimum-radius turns I've seen.

    @paralay

It is not that I know a better one, but how this an undefinined item like "corner of forward edge of wing" or "nozzle rotation angle" is relevant to this comparison??

Some factors are just not calculable based on fanatical numerology.

Fleet readiness isn't even factored in there. It's more focused to used a 7-man ground crew to keep on F-15E in the air than it is two 5-man ground crews for two F-16's. And each squadron will have a different number of bodies available at facilities based upon how close to wing and group depots. Logistics does seem to fit numerology all that well in that respect.

Well, what respect you want to compare from them Garry ? you might want to limit it to some factors.. say cost per flight hour or generic price, then discussion could be start in hopefully proper manner.

    --

Paralay did good one there in quantifying, and unless someone come up with equivalent work, it would be unfair and disrespectful to dismiss his without considering the amount of effort to make that tabulations.

Some more elaborations however would be needed on why it calculated that way.

Do you have a complaint about the methodology or the translation? Or are you sad that I prevented the 400-page flame from growing? :P

LCA Tejas wing loading higher than that of the FC-1? And FC-1 has a higher T/W ratio than the LCA? Despite similar engine thrust and empty weights? Whatever hard work you've put into this comparison, Paralay, I'm afraid a lot of it doesn't make sense.

@paralay.... It is simply the method.

In your rating there are cerrain issues like the obe I mentioned which are completely irrelevant while others "in comparison to Su-27" are based on what???

No problem, let's clarify the characteristics of these aircraft. Where can I get them?

I want to compare them in terms of kinematic, sensors and weapons. In general, how they stack up as fighter against more popular candidate such as F-16 or Mig-29. Regarding paralay tables, i find values of some criteria are somewhat dubious such as RCS, range of radar, mean of survivability..etc. Where are the number came from ?
