Advert On BBC One For The Last Post

Nice to see the VC10 in BOAC colours again, though what BOAC passengers would think of in flight refuelling through the probe on the front is anyone's guess

Any idea which one it is?

The probe suggests that it is a K3 or K4, so take your pick from ZA150, ZD241 or ZA147, which is still stored. I wouldn't expect the nose gear doors to be open on any of these though so perhaps they based this on an older photo and through some computer magic repainted it and combined it with some shots of people on stairs...

...which is a convoluted way of saying 'I don't know'.

In that case I am surprised they didn't use Duxfords. Cmk1's had the probe too, however it was frowned upon as it ruined the lines, so we rarely fitted it unless needed for operational requirements.

It is stranger than you think, the pax and steps have to be superimposed as the tanker has the million pound bin / slide in the front position and on the image the door is missing ( it opens out and fwd on the pax version, slide door hinged up and out). Also there was no rear pax door on the left side at all, simply the one forward of the wing mid fuselage, the rear galley access door being on the right side only.

They may have done. Someone suggested that the open nosewheel doors indicate that this is indeed G-ASGC at Duxford and that the probe is a CGI addition. This airframe was used for filming on 26th July, together with some period vehicles. Perhaps the series itself will provide more clues (actually, the fact that both doors on the LH side are open also points towards GC).

    Nice photos by the way!

But in the trailer the vehicles around the aircraft are army desert marked types, of which I don't recall seeing any in pictures of the filming at Dux?
Also G-ASGC doesn't have the fuselage side cargo door show in the trailer aircraft IIRC. Of course that could've been CG'd on?

Well, apart from the VC-10, we got a squadron of Lightnings and a shot of XH558 !

I suspect it's ZA150 at Dunsfold, it's been used for filming before, but it might have been ZD241 at Bruntingthorpe. The Lightnings were obviously CGI'd versions of possibly one of the brunty ones as it had the late 80s grey colour scheme

The Vulcan was probably the large scale model of XH558 that is out there.
