So this is the latest Mig-31 variant flying, right?

What are all those circular spots under the Cockpit, the grey area?
    Thanks

an interview with Deputy Defense Minister Borisov

    https://tvzvezda.ru/news/forces/cont...51128-ifip.htm

details of Kinzal and UAV programs

    UAV

We first showed unmanned vehicles, showed only two samples. For various reasons. Many people ask: why do not they fly you? Well, if they fly - they are small, no one will see them. To somehow show the public, they decided to take it to the platform. Well, in order not to have illusions or the opinion that the Armed Forces have only two types of unmanned vehicles, we have therefore shown the two latest developments - "Corsair" and "Katran". "Katran" is a helicopter type, and "Corsair" is a class closer even to the operational assignment of an unmanned vehicle, which is literally fresh, it has recently completed state tests, and we will serially purchase it.

In fact, the type of unmanned vehicles today is very wide in the Armed Forces. I can only list by name, you will understand that the amount is simple (huge). These are Tachyon, Aileron and the family of Orlan, there are several of them, and Forpost and Leer. And new developments are coming. We are finishing trials, this year we will assign the letters "O" to a new development - "Pseudo". This is a very serious class of drone for operational tasks, it has a useful load of 450 kilograms, it can be in the air for 30 hours. I think this is a September-October issue.

I think that within a year we will finish work on a heavy drone - Altius, which will allow us to carry a combat load of up to two tons. In fact, today in the armed with silt are at various stages, as a rule at the final, samples that will form the image of unmanned aircraft in the near future for virtually all functional capabilities. I mean informational, shock weapons, special countermeasures, primarily EW. With different payloads - from kilograms to two tons.

    Kinzal:

This is one of four samples, which the Supreme Commander-in-Chief voiced. This is a modern weapon: a hypersonic missile of increased range, which, in fact, can overcome air defense and anti-ballistic missile defense systems. It is invulnerable and has very serious fighting power and potential.

And the MiG-31 is its carrier, this aircraft is most suitable to disperse this missile to the required speeds at the right altitudes. In support of the fact that this is not some kind of exotics: today, ten aircraft are on experimental combat duty and are ready for use depending on the situation.

    According to Air International.
There will come a follow-up contract on Yak-130 and Su-30SM(in a new variant, SM2?), most likely in 2019. The SM2 contract is to be a big one.

Production of Su-34 is in its last segment of its state orders, if no export comes NAPO way, a new state contract could come as early as 2019. Still no words on the Su-34 upgrade.

Su-35S will continue with current state contract, 10 Su-35S will happen this year for VKS. New state contract could emerge around 2020, depending on export.
Currently the last 10 PLAAF Su-35S units will be delivered this year and then the Indonesian batch will commence.

There is rumors that Algeria are looking at a small contract with Su-30SM2 along with IAF(super MKI).

A new big state contract on Ka-52M will happen soon.. Russia soon that is.
The new Ka-52 variant has still to pass State trials. New Sensor and weapons trials.

Six Su-27 will be upgraded to SM3 standard.
A small units of Mig-31K(Kinzhal combo) will operate out of Southern District, but will remain attached to Rostov-On-Don 4th Air Regiment.
Its still in state trials, and more Mig-31K conversion will only happen after Weapons trials are completed.

The LIRP Su-57 contract of 12 still remains the same. But its production and deliveries could see further setbacks.. its still with Weapons trials.

The Ministry of Defense showed the possibilities of the newer unmanned aircraft "Korsar"

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation has shown the newest drones "Corsair", intended for air reconnaissance.
The video is posted on the Ministry's Facebook page .

It is reported that for the first time within the framework of the Victory Parade in Red Square the newest Russian UAV of the aircraft type "Korsar" will pass.

The device is designed to conduct round-the-clock all-weather aerial reconnaissance of surface and surface targets, defeat enemy targets and deliver cargo to designated areas.

Its equipment allows real-time delivery of target designation to fire and impact equipment, including high-precision. The flight duration of the vehicle is up to 10 hours, the maximum height is 6 km, the range is more than 160 km.

So is it decided as to what the Su-30SM2 variant will feature in terms of radar and engine? Are other avionics changes planned and any new weapons for integration?

IAF's Super-30 program will most likely not involve any new builds. Upgrades for existing fleet will be included.

    Upgraded BARS radar.

IDK where the SM2 designation came from, because not even SM1 is official, and the latter is a modernization of existing units, expanded capacity on current electronics + import substitutions (supposedly, THales HUD still around to this day) nothing as extensive as Super-30 is rumored to be.

Looking at the disposition of Su-35S, does anyone have any insight on why three of the four active squadrons are based in the far east? One would expect to see more based in the Southern and Western Military districts considering the active deployments to Syria, Ukraine tensions.

Dzemgi Airbase is in close proximity to KnAAZ factory.
I think this is why they stood up the forst two Su-35s Sq there.
Every system was new and this required lots of debugging the first 3-4 years of (pre)operational service and beyond.

Indeed, the defence burden for Russia has tended to be higher, on average, than that of the US (with an average of 3.8 per cent of GDP since 1992), China (1.9 per cent), and other large NATO countries such as the UK (2.4 per cent) and Germany (1.4 per cent).28

While US is officially committed to stay in the INF treaty, Adm Davidson, expected nominee to head PACOM, is telling Congress “the absence of the INF treaty would provide additional options" to counter China and others. INF puts US “at a disadvantage,” he claims.

It is more and more getting clear that US wants to dump INF treaty due to China as it puts US at great disadvantage when dealing with China if it does not have INF compliant GLCM or IRBM or similar ranges.

All the talks of Russian deploying a single INF Cruise Missile etc even though Russia has many options without deploying any INF compliant missile , is just a hog wash nothing else . These official statement confirm the fact the real target is China

Chinese missile arsenal presents strategic problem, says US official

Michael Fabey, Washington, DC - IHS Jane's Defence Weekly
    16 May 2018

Most of China’s missiles would fail to meet the weapon limits set by the 1987 Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty signed by the United States and the then-Soviet Union to help counter the proliferation of nuclear weapons, Randall Schriver, Assistant Secretary of Defense for Asian and Pacific Security Affairs, told US senators on 15 May.

“From a DoD [Department of Defense] perspective, it’s about 85% of Chinese missiles that would be INF non-compliant,” Schriver testified at a Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee hearing. “The backbone of their power projection of ballistic and cruise missile would be INF non-compliant.”

China never signed the INF Treaty.

    ^Didn't take long

April 25, 2018 at the Turkish airport of Antalya, the International Air Show Eurasia Airshow begins its work. On the first day of the air show "UAC - commercial aircraft" signed two agreements with Iranian airlines on the SuperJet 100 aircraft. Alexander Rubtsov, president of Sukhoi Civil Aircraft, told us about the details of these agreements and the program for creating a new version of the Superjet RRJ75.

Seems a lot but it usually envisage anything they would get from Ka-226 and Yak-152 to Tu-160, new and refurbished...

^Yes, but more Su-30SM's, Su-34 and Su-35S are called for, new contracts over several years.
So 160 this year 150 next year 140 next etc etc.

    It all stacks up.

And i do not think VKS will get many overhauled Flankers back to service. Rather they will get fresh new one's with higher MOTW and build quality(longer life hour).
