Many thanks once again Ken, as I suspected it really is an interesting and sometimes complex subject. I think any student of UK/US relations of the period would be fascinated by this stuff, it clearly demonstrates how desperate the UK was for support and involvement in the war effort from US and how...

Many thanks Ken, that's just the kind of detail I was looking for. The Assignment Agreement in effect consigned French orders over to UK, rather than UK "grabbing" what wasn't going to reach France?...

    Ken,

You answer part of my question regards bothering to take-over non-UK spec stuff, it makes sense and ties in with what I was already thinking. The other part of my question though is a step or two further back in the process, for instance how did those Mohawks get to be in a box at...

It appears that it will be MJ271, a Mk.IX that is currently under restoration. It is better known as the static example that was restored in Dutch colours a few years ago and spent some time static at Duxford before the restoration began. G-INFO lists the owner as Boultbee.

Many thanks for your reply Ken, it certainly throws some light on the subject. Does this mean there were clauses in the AFPC agreement that meant French orders would automatically be diverted if the French couldn't take delivery?

Don't know for sure but I'm guessing the Hunter and the other types would be from the ATAC fleet? They currently operate the Kfir, L-39 and Hunter.

    Diverted Aircraft Orders

I'm wondering if anyone can shed light on the details of how aircraft orders were diverted to Britain from occupied countries in 1940. The RAF and FAA received substantial numbers of diverted American types but I've never read any details of the diversion process, was it a case of "war booty, no...

Thanks for the reply Andy, certainly sounds like a very sensible mod when you consider the transit distances between N American show venues. Has this mod been done with any other restored Spits?...

Great video Paul, thanks for sharing.

Very informative clip Dave, very watchable and understandable. Interesting to hear about the extra internal fuel tanks, does this mean she basically has a Photo-Recce type wing with dummy cannon?

I can't give a publication date, but I do remember the pics being published. It was apparently some sort of ground-running, maintenance training rig and never flew as a twin.

I think the single-fin, ground-bound radio trials airframe was PN323 at Radlett, which is the now well-known cockpit...

IIRC, the Weeks Lysander used to be owned by Wessex Aviation rather than ARCo (although ARCo operated it)? Fondly remember Lee Proudfoot's sprightly displays in it back in the 90's. It hasn't flown since leaving the UK.

Congratulations again to everyone on V9312!
