replied to Dealings with Museums. Loan agreements
All these tales of woe seem to indicate that a properly written loan agreement hasn't been agreed and signed by both parties at the start of the loan period.

It is so slow as to be essentially unuseable, I'm rapidly losing interest in visiting.

If the museum is one of any substance they will already have their standard loan agreement available for you to consider. It will have sections which can be customised, for example the period of loan and the options at the end of the period. If they don't have such an agreement form then I would be...

    Graham,
Is that aerial base the same as item 222225663920 on ebay? If it is it might be worth fitting a new one.

Two things about the new format I don't like. My eyesight isn't very good, and I find that the text is now harder to read, I don't know whether it has got smaller or 'less dark', but definitely worse. The forum also seems to take longer to load, both at start-up and moving between pages.

Teleflex cables are very commonly used in boat installations to engage forward or reverse gear and operate the throttle, but whether these are identical to their WW2 products I've no idea!

James, there is indeed a battery inside the amplifier, but this is the Grid Bias battery only. The current drain is minute, so it has a long life, almost as long as its shelf-life. In addition the amplifier needs a 120v HT battery, and a 2v accumulator for the valve filaments, mounted externally. (There was a...

As well as the amplifier mounting, there is also the installation of the amplifier batteries to consider, I don't think I've seen any information for any aircraft. I've been looking at amplifier installations in any pictures of the Lancaster I can find, with the usual problem - they all look to be different! Andy...
