Quite agree Sabrejet and not too hard to find, though prices range widely. Otherwise, off to the library!

Mark you, good as the Putnams are, as we've also seen elsewhere, they may still have errors or inconsistencies.

But then, even primary (original, contemporary) records...

Agree, MothMinor: highly erratic, load, post and edit both yesterday and today. Often I'm browsing or posting at local times when traffic is v quiet: makes no difference.

Yesterday, poor synch between levels very apparent, such that eg one user appeared in the forum list with my avatar...

  • Well, thanks, though at least for the Audax (Singapore) more indicative than definitive.

The list of Hart (Special) inclusions/exclusions at least gives context, which suggests (though without certainty) that possible changes for an Audax (Singapore) might include eg
    exclusion of...

    What a fascinating thread.

The ongoing repetition of transcription (or other) error is a fairly well known trap, though I'd hesitate, in this case, to call it plagiarism.

It's why eg I usually look at several sources, as here, though in this case still failed to spot the sites...

Agree on c/n, no date shown for the view I got for some reason, though I don't disagree.

Scant info on the various online registers, however, this is recorded as a Fairey Fox III. One was built as a Company demonstrator: this aircraft carries the Fairey logo forward of the registration and more faintly on the rudder.

Later Fox Mark IIIs were built in some quantity in Belgium...

  • Hart, Hind, Audax variants and mods is a rich field indeed. Variants were very closely related, such that a Hart could be built as an Audax, or Audax completed on the line as eg Hector and so on.

However, as far as the Audax (Singapore) is concerned, Halley The K File: The RAF of the 1930s...

I'm on ADSL2+ with W10/IE11 fully up to date, virus protected, set to reject most pop-ups, cookies & tracking, Activex filtering on, history set to 0 days and all flushed on each exit.

I've had the same problems of glacial and erratic load, post and edit speed as many others.

To be blunt, after 7 weeks of forum torture that seems set to continue, appearance is irrelevant. It's beyond irrelevant.

I don't care what theme, colour or spacing you impose. I just don't give a toss.
Bar noting the fact with wry amusement, I don't even care much that font size...

    Bob, you've misunderstood my comment.
I run at native res and as repeatedly stated, no width problem in W10/IE11 ever, nor now W10/Edge.
I tested at lower res, that's all. As stated, it made the problem appear not disappear.
Making it a solution is not sensible - hardly seemed worth...

As of today, display time for forums seems prompt enough. Posting a reply markedly less so but editing same, properly prompt.

In other areas, I see What's going on now shows usernames whether logged in or just visiting. Tick!

Also the forum display width seems to have been...

  • That's very good news, Dave.

For Hampden 98, the book is held (as expected) by the British Library. Possibly in the RAF Museum Library also but you'd have to ask.

There are also numerous copies listed at bookfinder.com for quite modest prices in the UK.

    Presumably...

I'd have posted much earlier, but I've been held up, as you'll see.

    Firstly:
Sorry to hear those horizontal scroll bar blues, apparent in so many browsers.

As noted, the scroll bar isn't shown on a W10/IE11 machine, native resolution 1920x1080, Favourites sidebar 'on'.

Agree, 1bf: empty boxes. However, mouseover the pesky things and a text popup appears, for each function, so still quite possible to edit (indents, links etc). Another damned nuisance.

Further, if you've indented any text, each subsequent saved edit will add a para beneath the indented...
