1. how many F-22 ?
2. if they used all resources and eastern europe provided ready access to all bases,
I suppose around 4 weeks.
however
3. there wouldnt be much of a world worth returning to if (1) or (2) happened.
those Topol-Ms prowling the siberian forest and RSM-xx on Delta-IV would see to that.

Depends. Going nuclear like that would definitely be pissing into the wind. They could expect to receive a bunch of D-5s and MMIIIs in return.

If the US went to war against Russia, the 688s and Virginia-class subs would be shadowing every Russian SSBN, and would immediately sink them if they even looked like they were thinking about going to launch depth.
The land-based ICBMs would admittedly be more of a problem.

Your F-15 A-B-C-D- and E, won't have a chance against our Su-27's and your F-16's won't either with our MiG 29's don't even start with that "Our F-16's went up against Germany MiG-29's and we defeated Iraq's MiG 29's so we'll defeat Russia", those were NON-Russian MiG 29's, Russian MiG 29's ARE much more advanced with the Radar and Dogfighting Tactics, and BVR Missiles.only 18 MiG -29's were lost to USAF not Hundereds as US dis- information has been suggesting over the years, 4 in Desert Storm, and 14 in KOSAVO War. US military planners send MAJOR DISinfomation to the American People to keep this illution of U.S. is more powereful than Russia, Remember during 1941 Russia was much more in worse shape than it is now (2005) and Rus still managed to Manufacture 6000 T-34's during the hieght of Stallingrad onslaught now (2005) we'll make 2500 T-50's a month to take you out if you come with F-22 our airde fences will hold your F-22 off for 6 months just in time to retaliate will 5000 T-50's

The US would **** themselves if they find out how many SAMs there are in Russia. Americans have never fought an equal foe or anyone even close.
American choppers get shot down but farmers with AK-47s, and the world's largest anti-air defense is going to have more trouble? :o

Russia has New Generation SubS too we just don't advertise it before the war start, only After the War start do we Let It be knowwwnnnn!!!!, and US only has 3 Virginia Class Subs anyway

Seriously, this subject has been discussed over and over again in many threads. Everyone has their opinions, some have facts to back them up, and I doubt either side will ever be able to convince the other.
Bottom line, the only way to answer this question is for war to break out, and I really hope that no one here actually wants that to occur (though I wonder sometimes, with the venom some people put into their posts).

I don t think there will ever be a war between Russia and the US. Of course they don t like each other and I believe that the US would rather have some rational russian against them so they can plan a more methodic deterrence strategy as they did in the cold war... rather than the unpredictable djihadists... same with Russians. Bur for the time being, the Russians will seek to weaken the American influence and encourage their imperial over expansion.
Russia is weak now but in a sense it is much more coherent and united than it was in the Soviet Union times. It is transforming its army and making more like a 21st century army with strike and mobility capacity but renouncing to defend 100 % a vast territory.

I just don`t wanna think about if we did had internet back then.....the present "flame wars" would have been "fire crackers" back then.......or who knows....maybe me sitting on the socialist/commie side of the "Great Wall" could have been best palls with an "imperialistic american"(no offence)
