NEW UPGRADED SU-27SK TO BE SHOWN FOR FIRST TIME AT AIR SHOW IN CHINA

MOSCOW, October 29 (RIA Novosti's Olga Semyonova) - The Sukhoi aviation holding company will for the first time put on display its new upgraded Su-27SK fighter at the fifth international Airshow China-2004 at Zhuhai in China, Alexander Smelyakov, head of the public and media relations service of Rosoboronexport, told RIA Novosti on Friday.

"Sukhoi will for the first time display at the Zhuhai air show its upgraded single-seater multi-role Su-27SK fighter whose characteristics are those of the 4 plus generation and ensure hitting with high precision weapons not only aerial, but also all ground and naval targets," the agency's source said.

Mr. Smelyakov noted that in specialist view "this combat aircraft has high maneuverability and the world's best flying characteristics." He said Russian exhibits at Airshow China-2004 were chosen with a view to emerging world tendencies in military matters and also in line with the basic requirements of armed forces in the Asian continent. Mr. Smelyakov pointed out that apart from the new Su-27SK the Sukhoi family would also be represented at the show by the Su-30MK fighter, the Su-39 multi-role strike plane, and the Su-32 fighter-bomber.

"Other well-known Russian aircraft-making firms are showing no less interesting export products. The MiG corporation, for example, will demonstrate the scope of the MiG-31E interceptor-fighter," said the Rosoboronexport spokesman. He said that visitors to the show will be able to familiarize themselves with the high performance characteristics of the Yak-150 combat training plane, the Il-76MF strategic military transport and the Pchela-1 remotely-controlled aerial vehicle.

I guess they're truly trying hard to sell the plane.

I mean can't they do without the "F-16" as a basis to work on???
Anyway, notice those what them there ChiCom's say are "duck wing" (or canards)?
I wonder why it's even necessary for such a tiny peppy-looking plane?

At a glance, angle & "size", credit seems very "LCAish". Agreed???

Confused! Confused!! Confused!!!
http://military.china.com/zh_cn/news/568/20041101/11943954.html
 I mean why can't they just give it some cooler name such as "Sharpshooter"
or "Butt-Kicker", or somethin' "evil" as in "Hell-Makers" , etc., etc., instead of flyin' this or
flyin' that??? I mean can't they get away from the use of the word "Flyin'", Period???
