-So Russia might decide to finance PAK-FA and MFI ??

-Doubt it. There's not enough for both.

-Does the 1.44 have an internal bay? I can't tell from some of the pics..
The Su-47 at least did have what appeared to be one.

-maybe the PAK-FA would be export only ? Similar to what the Russians tried to do by buying one Jet trainer and trying to export to India another jet trainer so that as many companys as possible remain funded

Same here. But imho did not other nations sign up to finance and join the Pak-FA project ?
Imho this talk is damaging to russian aviation industry. It is nice to announce many projects, but is even better to finish some.

-Yes MFI does have a huge internal bay, something like 12 internal hardpoints. About 4 more than F-22's.

-hmmm. Not sure exactly where that is, looking at the scale plans...

-Hmm the MFI is a huge bird and will be quite expensive, who can really afford it?
Maybe Saudi Arabia will make a powerful political statement in the next 20 yrs when they retire their F-15s and then opt for the MFI?

-i dont see the house trying to shoot itself in the leg by trying to make a statement to the united states....unless ofcource it turns out like iran...but as of now SA wants to increase its interoperability with US and other western forces so going in a tottally different direction may not be that suited to their current plans

-Here's a nice TsAGI diagram showing something to do with 5th generation configurations- they seem to compare an F-16 datum with an MFI type and an Su-32/37 Berkut type.
We need both Polish and Russian speakers to interpret.

I don't think the MiG 1.44 prototype had them, but the actual 'MFI' aircraft (unbuilt?) supposedly does. I assume in an F/A-22 style configuration- belly for the BVR missiles, sides of the intakes for WVR missiles.

-In Andrey Karasev's opinion, the circumstance, that the idea of heavy fighter has been chosen as fundamental for the Russian air force, should not nullify the great amount of work carried out at the MiG firm on the creation of a fifth generation airplane
I am excited too, but a little confused. What is the long term goal of continuing work on the MFI design? The PAK-FA has been given to Sukhoi has it not? Could the MiG 1.44 eventually be seen as a heavy weight option to replace the MiG-31? And therefore fly along side the PAK-FA in future?

-Maybe they are just going to use the MiG-1.44 prototype to test certain technology or avionics later to be used on the PAK-FA. There are plenty of reports that the total burden of the PAK-Fa would be shared between the three main fighter design bureaux (Sukhoi, Yakovlev and MiG).
This could be just MiG's addition to the PAK FA, and offcourse its a good reason for RSK MiG to boost their ability to produce and fly a very advanced aircraft like the MiG-1.44 I would love to see it fly with actual Al-41 instead of the D-30s

The 1.44 already has AL-41s. Its the Su-47 with the D-30s.

Big article
As you can see, the interest is for the VVS, not a foreign country.
I must admit, simply because I know what the MiG 'MFI' was to look like (similar to the 1.44, with some modifications ... right?) in contrast to the unseen PAK FA, I'm pretty excited.
