Reliance management included most of the Rafale deal's offsets in their previsions

Reliance has formed a partnership with Dassault Aviation through a joint venture (JV) company named Dassault Reliance Aerospace Limited The JV company will be a key player in the execution of offset obligation, including the entire Life Cycle Performance Based Logistics for the 36 fighter aircraft; valued at about Rs 300 billion. This is part of the purchase pact between the Indian and French governments, says the report in a section headed Management Discussion and Analysis.

Ajai Shukla usual ranting. Btw, the "famous" document used by mediapart leaked, you will see it very soon. It si a communist linked trade union document, nothing such as an "inner document". and HAL has around 10% of the offsets also as Kaveri, and DRDO 30%!!! Ghandi is riduclizing himself everyday a little more on this topic.

They are taking into account lifecycle costs... An, very far from being the whole offsets as cliamed by Ghandi...

The interesting news is that with solely the Life Cycle cost, the Reliance JV (DRAL - owned at 49% by Dassault and effectively operated by French managers as candidly admitted in front of the French unions as revealed by the Mediapart document* indirectly quoting Dassault management ) provisioned a (very) large share of the offset amount.

              ----------------
[...] and if [Reliance JV] 's crew is led by an Indian General Manager, the Cabin Ched, the Industrial Director (the effective operational manager) is Mr. Luc (former Director of [Dassault's factory in] Biaritz

Dassault that agreed on the contract to guarantee an availability rate was then planning to fuel its contract obligation with offset money paid as an extra by Indians...

Offset obligations are generally made to boost the local industry with new influx. With an Air force the size of the IAF, already operating large fleet of Dassault planes, it is doubtful that MRO** was in a dare need to be at the end of this financial effort.

Once again, Dassault is in full right to plan for its course of action. Nothing specifically wrong with that... unless the loud claims here and there*** of hundreds of economic opportunity then devoid of any significant funds.

That is why there aare ccoefficients etc applied to offsets. Very complicated stuff. Wasn't the articla neutral? Off the mic, Dassault techs and engineers were horrified by the MRO of 2000H when they expertised them for upgrade.

This editorial is devoid of any blatant partisanship. I would have only wished that the scans were of a better quality or present as an embedded pdf document (pdf code is very short and easy to add).

In a recent interview to CNBC, Dassault CEO Eric Trappier had claimed his company chose Reliance ADAG as its offsets partner because it had land available next to an airport. However, the land was only given to Reliance by the state government after it had reached an understanding with Dassault to collaborate on the Rafale.

According to a Dassault press release, Reliance Aerostructures joint venture with Dassault Aviation Dassault Reliance Aerospace Limited (DRAL) was formally incorporated in 2017 but goes all the way back to April 2015.

India's top court gives govt 10 days to reveal details of military jet deal

The Supreme Court ruled that if the material was strategic in nature or involved national security, the government might choose not to reveal it to the petitioners, but will instead have to furnish it to the court in a sealed package.

We ask the center to give details of the pricing and strategic details of Rafale fighter aircraft in sealed cover in 10 days, Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi said, referring to the government.

[The court] directed the government to submit the documents with details, including the selection of the Indian partner, in 10 days and to make the information public. Content considered to be confidential can be submitted in sealed envelope, the court said in its order.
                          and

Confidentiality does not relate to price, only technical specifications, he added. It will be subject to challenge. It will be difficult to say pricing is confidential.

when complaint is made for internal political reasons, legal reality matters little.. the idea is to make noise and bring doubt in people's minds

bank guarantees [from the Fr gov] were obtained for the offsets part of the deal, empowering the ministry to penalise French firms that do not follow the norms.

I read at the time the 1st was rolled out that they are still in full F3R (?) configuration and all the specific systems for India will be added there. But does this includes the engines?

They are in specific Indian confiuration, derived from F3R. First F3R for french forces will be delivered next month or so to ADA CEAM (maybe january)
