Zircon does not uses plasma cloud but plasma layer is formed when the missile moves above Mach 5 which make RF transmission/reception difficult but they are working on this on to make RF seeker work in hypersonic speed

      Thanks for clearing that up.

Talks here about new An-124 reminded me those news about An-225 production in China. Did anything come out of that rumor?

Dunno about any New production of em.
But overhaul with new engines is a given.
But they wont start before they have decided and worked out a plan te replace its current engine with a propper new design.
There has been some talk about PD-14M. The engine that will power the largest MS-21-400 series in the future.
It makes sense to me, more platform to use same engine is a good and cost effective thing.
          Thanks

            http://tass.com/defense/1012445

"MOSCOW, July 9. /TASS/. Radio-photonic radars for unmanned aerial vehicles and aircraft will be created in Russia in several years to get an accurate target image, the press office of RTI Group told TASS on Monday."

Because of the cancelled production for few years until a working engine is completed it seems it is still highly doubtful that any new avionics like the ROFAR radar would be used on the SU-57 since they are saying 2025 is what they are planning on getting an accurate target image. KRET said before, "testing 2018 manufacturing them 2020" from previous reports but having them work accurately will take until 2025 according to RTI.

"As the press office said, RTI Group is completing R&D work in 2018 on creating a mockup of the X-band radio-photonic radar. Following its results, specialists "will determine a principal scheme of building the radio-photonic locator," which will make it possible "in several years to build prototypes of super-light and small-size radars for unmanned aerial vehicles."

Zhuk has showed us a mockup of the fga-35 radar back in 2014 and said the same based LTCC radars will be also used for the mig-35s which are expecting to come out in 2019. So I am hoping at least this year or the end of this year if there will be another catalog pdf talking more about the mockup ROFAR radar along with their current electronics industry's developments as of now or at-least another military exhibition event showing the mockup if possible.

With all this talk about PAK-DA and future strategic aviation, and recent news about pulse detonation engines being tested in Lyulka, I've always wondered what the continuing status of the Ayaks/Ajax program, or Oryol as a whole. Since Putin revealing some of the Russian strategic weapon's programs, he did state at one point that "there would be more", and when you take a look what was initially revealed, there is still probably more to come.

Avanguard was definitely a high end program, with regards to hypersonic craft, nuclear powered cruise missile and the nuclear torpedo are fascinating from technological perspective, but nothing truly earth shattering with regards to strategic and overall global impact, Dagger and the laser system also interesting (Dagger less so, being air launched Iskander), but again, nothing truly out of this world, as laser systems have been around for some time, and that specific laser system shown is by no means Russia's/USSR's first laser system.

So I will be looking forward with interest to any future unveilings of Russian strategic programs with regards to hypersonic craft, as Ayaks/Ajax is a very fascinating and to this day groundbreaking with regards to intake, engine, fuel system, and even aerodynamic systems.

And if anyone, particularly our Russian posters have any recent info on Ayaks/Ajax that might have flown under the radar, it would be greatly appreciated if they could bring it to light.
The Nuclear powered UUV is one of the most discrete 2nd strke weapon , While Avangrad is no doubt a technology marvel but its not a discrete weapon but UUV is truly a Weapon or Weapon , like a Ace of Spade in what has been disclosed , It has exteremly hard to detect and equaly hard to destroy and can attack the target at its own term,

Check MOD statement today on this system

One thing I note is that the Status-6 CGI model is remarkably faithful to the real article - perhaps the same is true of the Avangard HGV (now the only one of these new weapons we haven't seen real hardware of)?

VC Russia conducted a successful launch of a new missile defense system

As reported by the newspaper "Red Star", in the world there are no analogues of a missile of this class and purpose. Thus, the projectile moves at a speed of about 4 km / s. In the near future, we should expect the beginning of mass production and delivery of ammunition.

On the eve of the Russian Defense Ministry, the Russian Defense Ministry told about the successful tests of the latest Russian armament: the airborne hypersonic complex "Dagger", the hypersonic warhead Avangard, the Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile, the Poseidon unmanned underwater vehicle, the Peresvet laser complex and the cruise missile with the nuclear power plant " Burevestnik.

Looks like Forpost-M UAV is not just armed but completely made in Russia with Russian parts

Attack of drones :The military is preparing to adopt the first domestic drone drone

                            https://iz.ru/765772/aleksei-ramm-bo...i/ataka-dronov

The Ministry of Defense told Izvestia that the Upright Outpost-M had the opportunity to strike ground targets. The UAV will also be equipped with a new modular optoelectronic system for identifying ground objects and a radar (radar) station. Such equipment allows the drone to work at night and under all weather conditions. The combination of new navigation systems and identification of ground objects makes the machine fully autonomous shock platform.

"Forpost-M", being in the patrol area, will be able to independently solve a number of combat missions. The new radar will help detect potential targets for the attack. The optical system will capture the sight and identify the ground object. Then the attack will follow. The targets will be amazed with the help of high-precision guided bombs on board.

On-board radio electronic equipment (FORE) "Forpost-M" has no analogues in the world. In particular, the domestic inertial inertial navigation system (BINS) allows the drones to fly without the use of global GLONASS or GPS systems. This gives the car a number of advantages when flying in areas saturated with air defense and EW systems of a likely enemy.
The base for the new percussion vehicle was the outpost "Forpost", created on the basis of previously purchased Israeli UAV Searcher Mk II. Finished by Russian designers, the drone is completely assembled from domestic components and named "Forpost-M". The index "M" in its name means that the UAV has undergone a profound modernization.

"Forpost-M" can operate within a radius of up to 250 km from the operator's location, develop a speed of more than 200 km / h and stay in the air for up to 17 hours. The drone weighs more than 450 kg. The maximum altitude of the flight is about 5 thousand meters.

"Forpost-M" in the shock version will be equipped with unique high-precision guided bombs. They will be hidden in special containers that are hardly noticeable for the enemy radar. The machine will be able to carry two such bombs. Characteristics of special ammunition and the bomb load of the aircraft of the Defense Ministry has not yet been disclosed. However, it can be assumed that the payload of the upgraded version of the FORPOST UAV will exceed 100 kg.

The Forpost is a licensed copy of the Israeli IAI Searcher II, the chaps upgraded the thing and called it "domestic".

One of the options for a draft design of a fighter of the sixth generation. Drawing KRET

Work on the creation of a sixth-generation fighter is already underway. The principal differences between the combat aircraft of the future and the Russian specialists are the ability to perform combat missions without human participation due to the construction of an onboard system based on artificial intelligence. Among the features of the sixth generation will also be low visibility, which is provided by stealth technology with a wide use of composite materials, the presence of a radio-photon radar, the ability to develop hypersonic speed and go into near space, and the possibility of using weapons on new physical principles.

At 1st I thought it was false news when it came from western sources but since it came from Russian news website agencies it seemed more realistic https://sputniknews.com/russia/20180...personic-Leak/. What the hell is wrong with most of Russia's scientists ranging from adolf tolkachev to Kudryavtsev? Are there scientists not getting paid enough? Why the hell is security such an issue? keep classified documents all in a secure facility. Close all ports, allow no wireless connectivity to transmit secure information or have someone monitor the packets and information going in and out of the facility. This is just sad.
I thought the fall of western civilization was a tragedy, now I realize it's a comedy.
