We know that alot of Russian missile components are made by companies across Ukraine. say seekers from Geofizika, Artem etc. Since relations with Ukraine is basically at lowest point now.. This brings question what Russians will do to get away from dependence on Ukrainian components. One Example is the Kh-59 which requires Ukrainian made Tekon datalink pod and Tubus/Granit seeker.
Most sub components either have already been replaced or are replacing them. Rostec being leader in the import substitution field. I don't think everything has been substituted yet, like iir sensors yet. But for most part, the more sensitive stuff has.

Very interesting- source is PiBu among others, so can't be total BS.
Russian Helicopters and the MOD signed an agreement in August 2017 to begin developing a high speed attack helo concept and the respective technical requirments.
This stage will be finished late next year, after which the OKR stage will begin, and is expected to be finished after 4+ years. Both Mil and Kamov are working on their own projects, Kamov using a co-axial scheme, Mil a classical one.
The one requirement they both have- speed above 400km/h.

Klimov is responsible for the engines, and is working on the VK-2500M. Company claims the engine is all new, not a modification of the VK-2500 (the name wtf?)
Take off power will be 2600hp (VK-2500 was 2400) and 2950HP in emergency mode (VK-2500 was 2700). The new engine will be 20% lighter and contain 16% less parts. Fuel consumption will be cut by 7%.

New wings of the Russian Air Force , What will the Russian front aviation fly in 10 years

        Ilya Kramnik

        https://iz.ru/679043/ilia-kramnik/no...lia-vvs-rossii

In Russia, the process of coordinating the state arms program (SPP) for 2018-2027 is coming to an end. The exact figures of the state defense order are closed and, most likely, they will remain so, however, some assumptions about the parameters of the future program can be made. iz.ru understood the expected orders for the Russian Air Force.

        New "Dryers"

The air force, organizationally part of the Air and Space Forces of the Russian Federation, remains their largest element. According to the total number of aircraft and helicopters of all types, the Russian Air Force shares the second place in the world with the air force of the People's Liberation Army of China (PLA), second only to the US Air Force. A significant part of the aviation fleet has already been updated within the framework of the completed armaments state program 2006-2015 and the current GPV (2011-2020). Especially it concerns helicopters.

Nevertheless, in the Air Force units there are still a lot of Soviet-built aircraft equipment. In military transport, long-range and special aviation, heavy aircraft with a large resource can fly for several decades, but front-line fighter planes, bombers and other Soviet-built tactical aircraft will obviously be completely replaced in the next decade,

The basis of the procurement program for front-line aviation will still be the Su aircraft. In total, according to available information, as part of the airborne regiments of the Air Force it is intended to have at least 700 fighters (excluding machines stored). About 450 of them are fighters of the Sukhoi Design Bureau, in the overwhelming majority of the new construction, with the exception of a few dozen Su-27 fighters that have undergone modernization into the Su-27SM variant.

First of all it is worth mentioning the Irkutsk Su-30SM, which is also supplied for naval aviation of the Russian Navy. In total, for the Ministry of Defense of Russia, starting in 2012, 116 Su-30SM aircraft were contracted, of which 88 are intended for the Air Force, and 28 for the fleet aviation. Currently, under the signed agreements, about 100 aircraft have been delivered, and according to available information, a new contract for the delivery of another 50 planes for the Defense Ministry should be signed in the near future. This contract should be implemented by 2022, after which the Irkutsk Aircraft Plant will focus on the production of the MS-21 liner currently undergoing testing.

Procurement of the more advanced version of the T-10 platform, the Su-35S fighter, will be continued. It is assumed that in addition to 98 fighters of this type, contracted under the two agreements of 2009 and 2015, no less number of cars of this type will be purchased.

MiG-35 will hang in the air

Aerospace forces order super-maneuverable fighter with the latest on-board equipment In addition, in Komsomolsk, a fifth-generation fighter, the Su-57, is being manufactured. The information on the possible volume of the proposed purchases of this machine varies, but it is most likely that by the end of the new LG, the Air Force will have about 60 vehicles of this type, the first 12 of which will be delivered before the end of 2021 and be tested before the start of the series purchases. It is possible that the lack of fifth-generation machines will be replenished by increasing purchases of Su-30 and Su-35 fighters.

        Upgraded "MiGs"

The most numerous representative of the "MiG" brand in the troops in the next decade will still be the Soviet machine - the upgraded MiG-31 interceptor fighter. Capital repair and modernization of these machines are now put on stream, and taking into account the need to cover large areas in the north and the Far East, the total number of repaired interceptors in the Air Force may in the next decade be about 150 aircraft. Also remain in the ranks received in the second half of the zero and in 2010, several dozen fighters MiG-29SMT / UBT. A newer version of "product 9", the MiG-35, is unlikely to be purchased in quantities comparable to Sukhoi, but after mastering a new radar for this fighter, it is possible that new contracts are signed. According to expert estimates,

The shock units of frontline aviation will be equipped exclusively with Sukhoi vehicles. The only representative of the Soviet aircraft industry will be the Su-25 attack aircraft. Most likely, assault aviation regiments will have at least 120-140 modernized aircraft of this type equipped with new guided air munitions.

Another veteran of the USSR Air Force, the Su-24M bomber, who worked brilliantly in the Syrian campaign under the curtain of the career, will still go "on the way out," but only because, unlike the Su-25, he has something to replace: the Su-34 bomber also perfectly showed yourself in Syria. Under the current contracts, the Russian Air Force has already received about 110 vehicles of this type, and the total demand for the Su-34 is close to 200 units. It is not excluded that a new contract for the supply of these bombers will be concluded in 2018-2019, in addition, purchases of Su-34 for naval aviation of the Russian Navy are possible.

The foregoing means that there are about 1,000 vehicles in the air force of the Russian Air Force. On the one hand, this is much less than the Soviet Air Force once had, as well as the fewer planes that the tactical air wings of the Air Force and the US Navy deck aviation, along with the aviation of the Marine Corps, will have. But on the other hand, given the existing tasks, this number is estimated as sufficient.

In the final analysis, it is meaningless to compare the size of the Russian Air Force and potential adversaries. The outcome of the war, in which this correlation of forces really will make sense, is decided not by front-line aviation. In the same conflicts that Russia is likely to face in the next 10 years, no less burden will fall on other components of the Air Force. We will talk about the prospects for their renewal later.

^^^ Wow! That Tu-22M3 is so damn

Good report from Vesti. Starting 6:24 we see MiG-29SMTs, two of them are shown in the video. The SMT that is being worked upon shows that it has around 50 strikes (10 per marking) under its wings. The second SMT with it canopy covered is also having those 5-6 marking, not clear to me.

Instead/along with those limited Kalibrs from ships and subs, it would be good to use the cheaper Kh-35/U, four of which can be carried by a single MiG-29.

Another missile which need to be dusted off is the air-launched 3M-14AE which was earlier showcased with MiG-29SMT. It would be a damn good capability to have a 1,500Km+ range Kalibr under the wings.

^ Yakhont was showcased for the MiG-29s back @ MAKS1999, hope this moves forward now that Brahmos-A has started off. It would be a good capability to have. Also, if I'm not wrong, the Indian designed pylons for Brahmos looks bigger than the original Russian displayed pylon for Brahmos-A, which looked compact in comparison.

Good point. Most likely NK accelerated its public demonstration of their programmes, long-rangers & nuclear, after the below incident. Till that point, they probably wanted to keep (or would have kept) it moving without much publicity in the hope that Trump might be different from his predecessors (based on his campaign statements) and a channel for proper dialogue might open.
But the Koreans forgot that Trump was just a president and the show is actually run by behind the screen puppeteers and the reason why murican foreign policy is so consistent!

In May this year, a group of heinous terrorists who infiltrated into our country on the orders of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) of the U.S. and the South Korean puppet Intelligence Service with the purpose of carrying out a state-sponsored terrorism against our supreme headquarters using biological and chemical substance were caught and exposed, KCNA wrote.
^ This is something which was not widely reported or given coverage in the media but was a serious matter. Probably from that point on, the Koreans started giving it back. Their first ICBM test in the form of Hwasong-12 came only around 14th May. So the accelerated pace of their ICBM and nuclear test was to demonstrate to the US that, they do have the the technical and material ability to hold the entire CONUS to MAD in case the hawks in the murican establishment were having any fantasies.

This follows on an order for 29 helicopters (23 Mi-8 and 6 Ansat) that is due to finish delivery this year.

This new order includes 12 Ansat, 13 Mi-8AMT and 8 Mi-8MTV-1 (note the value split for both Kazan and Ulan-Ude)

The newest MiG-29SMT fighters successfully showed themselves in Syria - the UAC general designer
                            12/07/2017 9:05:00 AM
Khmeimim (Syria). 7 December. INTERFAX - The successful application of the latest Russian MiG-29SMT fighters in Syria has confirmed their reliability and effectiveness, the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) general designer Sergei Korotkov told journalists.

S.Korotkov, at the head of the UAC delegation, conducts an analysis of the results of the use of air complexes in the operation of the Russian Armed Forces in Syria at the airbase of Khmeimim. He said that in September, the MiG-29SMT aircraft complex was sent to Khmeymim for approbation.

"Participation in combat departures of new aircraft systems allows us to confirm their reliability and efficiency, as well as to evaluate the operation of the on-board radio electronics and weapons complex," the general designer said.

S.Korotkov added that for two and a half months of operation, the aircrafts carried out more than 140 sorties to fulfill the tasks of destroying terrorist infrastructure. According to him, in MiG-29SMT Syria "carried out combat missions to defeat terrorist bases autonomously, as well as jointly with Su-34 and Su-35". He added that the MiG-29SMT also carried out tasks to support Tu-22M3 bombers.

"The program for the development of the MiG-29SMT will be continued, including to test the effectiveness of the destruction of new and prospective weapons systems." The experience gained in Syria will be taken into account in the operation of these aircraft, and introduced in the development of new MiG aircraft complexes, including including MiG-35, "- said S. Korotkov.

The MiG-29SMT demonstrated mobility and ease of operation with high combat effectiveness. The testing of the combat capabilities of the modernized front-line fighter MiG-29SMT confirmed the operational capability of the regimes for the use of air bombs, corrected air bombs and guided air-to-surface missiles with accuracy corresponding to the TTZ on the complex, as well as their superior, "- he added.

RSK MiG could reduce it's staff by 1,000. According to sources consulted by RNS the reason is the lack of contracts after Egyptian MiG-29s are delivered. Last summer 200 workers were made redundant. At the end of this year 500 employees from administration and the Mikoyan Engineering Centre in Moscow will follow. The other 500 will leave in 2018. RSK MiG employs 14,000 people, of whom 40% are below 35.

The company has stated that the reduction is due to the reshuffling of workers from Moscow to Niznhy Novgorod. Sokol Factory will organise production of Il-114 and final assembly of MiG-35.
