    I am a noob as far as the MiG-31 is concerned. Will someone kindly tell me how to differentiate a BM from a vanilla Foxhound from its external appearence?

        Thank you Paralay.

        Russia and India are jointly developing a ramjet powered air to air missile.

        The development and demonstration of Solid fuel ducted ramjet technology and a missile employing it is a JV.
        SFDR has been under development since 2013 and in 2015 DRDO had invited Bids to manufacture SFDR Ground Launchers. Latest Tenders which were released on May 24 have specified requirements for transportation containers for SFDR missiles and Ground Launch Booster (GLB) which have to be transported separately.

        Initially it was thought that the Solid fuel ducted ramjet technology is being developed as a core technology for a host of future hypersonic missiles . The JV is between NPO Mashinostroyenia and DRDO. The lead agency on our side is DRDL. But according to the recent tenders it seems the SFDR is for a long range air to air missile.
        According to the tender the SFDR missile will weigh 250kgs approximately and the Ground Launch Booster (GLB) will weigh approximately 450kgs.

        First basic design images of India’s “Desi Meteor” called SFDR ( Solid Fuel Ducted Ramjet Propulsion Technology) Beyond Visual range Air-to-Air Missile has emerged while development of the missile gains speed and may be reaching Ground testing phase soon .
        It is said to be based on the indigenous Astra Bvraam but this hasnt been confirmed till now. It may well be a clean sheet design.

          @JangBoGo (FFS mods, return the quote button)

          No, just the Zhuk-A has 1000 T/R's, i asked how many the T/R's Zhuk-AME has, but i dont remember the answer there. Just AME uses LTCC, -A uses vanilla GaA's, they are also grouped together in a pair. I am not sure why overall why it is more bulky overall at the front but yeah, there is water cooling behind the T/R's so that is certainly a part of it. The LTCC's are more efficient and thus require less cooling. Also, i asked specifically whether the LTCC antenna itself could go on Zhuk-A backend assembly and yes, it could. Here is an album with all the Zhuk pictures i took, including a few leaflets;

          A bonus in here (as i have no interest of posting in the cesspool that is the PAK-FA thread), scan of a card with a new pic of T-50-9 during its flight from KnAAZ to Moscow with Bogdan's signature;

                No on the former, and the later has been known for many years.

                    I asked the Phazotron guy but he didnt have knowledge about it or Zaslon in general. Zhuk testing was his field. And i simply forgot to ask the MiG guy about BM2 but i doubt there would be much to learn anyway.

                    PS; Il-112V's first flight is now "early next year".

                      That was obvious from the pics of construction progress, but yeah. Oh well.

                      Might be my favorite MiG-29K pic:

                        @Berkut, There was an increase in T/R count of the cheek N036 aesa array which was displayed at Maks 2015. It sported 400 something T/R.The one displayed at MAKS 2015 had 354. What i wanted to know is has the same thing happened this time around ? Did they show a new variant of N036 nose and cheek aesa arrays with a higher T/R count ?

                          @ TR1, that was an informative video
                          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5a7ZZvh8kBo

                          I wasn't aware that truck based Pantsir-S1 could fire on move and thought that capability was limited to Tungushka-M, tracked Panstir and Tor.

                          @ Berkut, Thankyou for your inputs.

                                  Strange clean up. Reminds me the situation when the forum has been hacked, some time ago. Entire PAK FA thread is gone.

                                          It was probably deleted due to the usual trolls..one in particular "hopped" in with his usual anti-everything-Russian and as per usual had nothing to contribute or ask about the PAK-FA, other than cause animosity.

                                          I echo ClanWarriors question..it appears as if T-50-11 has flown..going by the rumours out there. I am curious as to its configuration, and why it flew before T-50-10 if the rumours are true.
