So, odds favor India acquiring the F-16 short-term and F-35 long-term. (IMHO)
With Trump asking to sanction them if they buy S400? Doubtful.

And fyi, India has not Rejected buying the Su-57.
They have rejected the FGFA version, i suspect after India held talks with Sukhoi, they was told the cost for a highly customized two seater Su-57(or sigel seater!) was too costly to pursue, and it was agreed that the FGFA was official dead.
That does not mean IAF wont get the Russian Su-57.
The Su-57 is delayed alright, due the engine development no doubt.

India will engage in new talks for Su-57 down the road, just be patience.
LOL Your on Medication if you think India will ever acquire the Su-57 from Russia. Hell, Russia isn't likely to get nothing more than a very modest number. In order to save what little pride it has left.....

As for the F-16 and F-35 India doesn't really have much of a choice. As it has to come up with something that it can afford. While, also something to counter future Chinese Stealth Fighters. (i.e. J-20 and J-31)

Time will tell, but if they're allowed to F-U the way they managed the A400M, the DOD might not be too happy about it, on the other hand after F-35, they might well have got used to it.

Airbus took years to reach a proper configuration suitable with customers needs. And that was solved on the client side. When Airbus offered the A330 to the USAF, the Boom was not even designed. This was the object of one post years back on the forum. You might want to take the time to dig this out.

And stop this thing with me. It feels as if I have crabs.
