I hope they beef up the F-35 numbers further in the coming years. Nine aircraft doesn't even amount to a full squadron...and the other Aggressors will still have none.

            India gets 1x Defense Minister*

Singh will have very little money for new defense purchases because very little money is left for new defense purchase[s]," an MoD official said.

The new government will have to choose priorities between Make in India defense programs or global defence purchases, he noted, adding that no sweeping reforms are expected for at least the next two years.

Another MoD official expressed confidence that Singh will enforce anti-corruption regulations.

The Indian Army is currently committed to $4.31 billion in liabilities, with the Air Force committed to $7.40 billion and the Navy to $3.98 billion.

Gripen is a good plane. However, if they are canadian built (five eyes) everything they do will be known by US. It is a political choice.

Scheduled for testing on a Gripen so I presume it will be available on Gripen E in the future.

B-1 Lancer readiness is in the toilet, here's why

The state of the U.S. Air Forces B-1B Lancer fleet is bad really bad and lawmakers on the House Armed Services seapower and projection forces subcommittee want the service to come up with a plan to fix the problem.

The United States long-range strike capabilities may be placed at increased risk by aging structural problems with the B-1," according to the panels markup of HR 2500, the Houses version of the fiscal 2020 defense policy bill, released Monday. The Lancer isnt getting the resources and attention necessary to improve its mission-capable rates.

The situation has gotten so bad, according to the subcommittee, that the number of B-1 aircraft that are fully mission-capable is now only in the single digits. Whats more, B-1 aircrew are being rerouted from flying the bomber to other aircraft, because there arent enough Lancers for their necessary training.

Amazing regards to B-1s for a country that spends so much on defence compared to rest of the world.

B-1s have always been money pits with low readiness.

The 111 also had to go while still being exceptional. Sadly obsolescence of complex early surfacing systems and their inherent maintenance cost are an unavoidable wall in the face.

Man have to salute the new trend in US design to favor embedding existing technologies into open architecture.
