-i watched the parade. The UAV/UCAVs are carried on back of the truck rather in flight past. it shows how unreliable are these unmanned aircraft for flight formations.

-2:05:00 onwards: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TCfdGzXPN_w
Some new additions compared to 2009 parade:
Type-99A
HJ-10 ATGM
HQ-10
YJ-12
DF-16
DF-21D ASBM
DF-26
DF-5B
KJ-500
H-6K
J-15
EDIT:
Notable absentees, J-10B, DF-31B, DF-41, but to be fair the announcers stated only in-service equipment would be displayed

-Surprised to see the J-15 and no J-10B. There should be many more of the latter in service. Possibly because the navy was eager to have something to show off. These parades are by nature an army and air force show.
Also nice to see the Z-10 make public debute. Must say I've never heard of DF-26 so that was a surprise.
By: 3rd September 2015 at 07:30 Permalink - Edited 1st January 1970 at 01:00
-Key things, the DF-21D was announce as conventionally armed Anti-ship Ballistic missile, while the DF-26 conventionally or nuclear armed ballistic missile with some capability of hitting medium to large ships.
Some screencaps: YJ-12, DF-21D, DF-26, DF-5B (Forgot to add the DF-16)

Classic, absolutely classic post. I'm going into kitchen now to make some coffee - I'm going to be smiling while I ladle out the granules in the coffee filter...

-So, let me get this right......
In order to have clear skies for this parade, Beijing factories have been closed, cars banned and even BBQ's restricted for weeks beforehand:-
All well and good - but why then start the aviation part of the parade by having a flypast by the 1st August display team chucking out poluting smoke - which then obscures the rest of the flypast ???

That is so true. It was really annoying. Couldn't get a nice shot of the KJ-500 because of that.

No J-8 and Q-5, but there was a formation of H-6Ks and a H-6 tanker. Other old airframes include KJ-2000 and KJ-200 AWACS, with Y-8GX notibly absent. PLAAF bombers and tankers were really showing their age against the backdrop.

India does not have that many LCA to do fly past.
I was expecting swarms of UAVs in flight formation as this is light weight disposable part of aviation.

There was no Y-20.

They? V-J day was coined by Western Allies to denote victory in the Pacific, similar to how V-E day denotes victory in Europe. As far as I know the Chinese call it by an entirely different name, similar to Russia calls WW2 the "Great Patriotic War". Not to mention that the letter V does not exist in Chinese romanisation. Try to engage a few brain cells before posting crap like this?

Good grief man. Are you serious? Can you imagine the carnage and repercussions if UAV/UCAVS malfunctioned or collided during such a parade? Absolutely no need for UAVs to be involved in formation parade flights over populated areas. Is it any wonder some people worry about you on this forum?

Could be crowd safety implications. I do not know of any country that would permit large drown formations over cities. The RAF is not even allowed to fly it's predators in UK air space, so what the Chinese are doing are completly in line with international norms. It seems you have a very strange reasoning or must be very very young.

No Q-5s or J-8s were present. The only old(ish)-school A/C to fly were JH-7A, H-6U.
