-Definitely in modern aviation given that the airframes are from the 80s and 90s. But did you already know that? On a side note, wonder what is causing all these crashes lately!

-They're trying to get rid of them all because the maintenance is too much trouble?:highly_amused: this would be a way to get them all removed from service.

Meaning Russia has decided to try to intimidate its neighbors by flying far more than usual, but their maintenance practices don't appear to have kept up...
On Tuesday and Wednesday, NATO detected at least 19 Russian aircraft in international airspace. NATO has conducted over 100 intercepts of Russian aircraft in 2014 to date, about three times as many as were conducted in 2013.

-I hope there were no fatalities..but speaking of the higher attrition, perhaps the tempo of operations has gone up..

-From the events that has come in the news so far officially and unofficially , It appears that 3 of the 4 engine suddenly stopped working , The other crew about 5 bailed out while the two pilots presumably wanted to save the aircraft and try land on single engine.
The aircraft just crashed landed and caught fire killing both the pilots.
Fuel Adulteration is officially said to be the suspect , FSB has raided the base and took over some documents.
Its quite brave and heroic of the pilots to let rest of crew bail out and land the plane perhaps knowing well they may not make it.
Rest In Peace

From RT News, Tu95 is down: http://rt.com/news/273520-tu95-bomber-crash-russia/
Apparently, crew are safe and no injuries on the ground reported
Not sure if this should be in Historic or Modern !
