-Looks like the A-7 Corsair II has been retired with the Greek AF as the last operator.49 years from first flight to retirement. A pretty good run. Perhaps a somewhat overlooked, but capable aircraft. I do think it would have been attractive for several more airforces, especially in central/south america and parts of Asia.

The official ceremony I think took place although the plane may make a last official appearance during the WW2 parade on the 28th of October.

-A bittersweet day. Another example of a truly classic and very charismatic aircraft relegated to history. Hopefully a fair number of the aircraft will be preserved in museums and the like. The article in this month's AFM (or was it CA?) was pretty interesting...especially the bit on how survivable they were in the low altitude regime where it would appear the Corsair was always at home.
I watched the AirUtopia A-7 Cockpit DVD the other day, and it was pretty interesting with some really great footage.
Planning on doing an ANG A-7D in 1:48 when I get the chance. I've got the kit, but just haven't had time.
