Note the yellow on the roundels that matches the color on the fin flash. Also see Linden Hill decal sheet.

It's no more a mystery, it's an enigma.
New roundel but, at least, 4 years old.
Thanks Gkozak for the new picture and the roundels sheet.

              Hi to you all

On 25- 08 - 2009 I made an update to my webside with roundels. It was the Chad update with the then new roundel. So nothing new under the sun!

Before you post issues about roundels you should take a look here: http://www.drareg.nl/Markeringen/index.html. And yes, I know its in Dutch and I am translating it into English but that will take more than a year as I have little time to do so.

              Greeting from the Netherlands

with the Chad roundel the blue part is facing the fuselage, The Czech roundel, the blue is facing forward.

Really prefer the old one (personal opinion).
As Etienne stated, too similar to Czech one and too confusing. They could be more inventive.

It probably has extreme tolerance to debris on the runway.

I suppose you are talking about the An-72 picture.
Debris tolerance was part of requests of Soviet AF, but another asset of the engines location was the use of "Coanda" effect for STOL specifications. The compressed air from engines exhausts is blown on the top of wings to provide high-speed air, even at low flying speeds, then creating more lift. The compressed air, attracted by nearby surfaces, also follow the curve of the wings and flaps, further increasing lift.
See here on a Russian An-74 (An-72 with "minor" modifications) :

Unfortunately, An-72 (and derivatives) is the only one that became operational.

And it can be armed with 2 underwing rocketpods and a gunpod on the lower right side ot the fuselage.
