Elbit was never involved, the joint venture between IAI and Odessa ended abruptly after first flight of the modernized L-39C, then IAI turned to us with the same proposal in 2005. We overhauled, modernized and delivered 4 L-39SIA to FANA. The modernized L-39 are a training platform for the Su-22.

        Excellent, many thanks ! Those four L-39s, were I-53, I-54, I-55 and I-56, I presume.
The cockpit layout looks remarkably similar to FANA Su-22M-4Ks having been upgraded at WZL2 Bydgoszcz. Would you happen to know what the cockpit of their upgraded MiG-23s looks like? They should be of MiG-23-98-2 standard, AFAIK..

correct, but those first two delivered have flown long time without I-53, I-54 bort numbers being painted, even after the I-55, I-56 delivery. When we grounded our Su-22 airforce fleet and ended maintenance support for FANA, IAI went to Poland to cooperate with WZL2 Bydgoszcz. I remember we had their proposal to modernize Su-22 on table, it is sad.
Regarding Mig-23 cockpits, would like to see them too, but doubt they are modernized as those Su-22, when we realize the FANA has much better toys in their airforce inventory.

P.S. I forgot to mention the Su-22 overhaul and upgrade undervent at Luanda airfield, but unfortunately have seen only one picture where polish WZL2 workers doing leveling procedures with an a/c on jigs prior disassembling and sending aggregates to Poland....Angolan Flanker is visible behind the Fitter. As I remember the first flight of upgraded Su-22 C-509 happened in march 2007 and the upgraded examples are easily recognizable by the yellow border on the red/black insignia roundel.

                  Hi MSphere

Would you mind posting some pics of Sudanese F-6 in all-white finish dumped at Juba IAP?

I remember uploading them in 2008.

                  TIA

Here are two pics of FANA L-39C upgraded to L-39SIA I-55.

You can see newer head-up display installed on the L-39SIA I-55.

Dear My friend from Angola, Mr Ombaka !!

I was aware of your unofficial website dedicated to the FANA a few years back.

But it was disappointing that your unofficial FANA website lacks greatly some sort of interesting photos, only full of photoshopped images.

In your country, Is it hard to acquire a few FANA yearbooks or booklets containing a lot of superb photos in it?

I can't assure you confidently that I would surely continue posting FANA pics, though, will see what I can do for you.

With no doubt, Collecting pics of the FANA is a part of my hobby, so feel free to keep your eyes open for more to come.

Greeting from your friend, Jin-ho, South Korea

Unfortunately reproduced on newsprint but here's the PNG DF CN235 0502 on home turf at Tabubil. It was operating a food shuttle in conjunction with MAF following droughts.
