That first picture is interesting EEL, Sidewinders on the outer stations. Presumably fairly old?
Because sometimes in life we need a bit of fun

          Yeah I'd guess it's early '00s, maybe?

There's a similar load on those stations albeit with Meteor.

              Paveway IV's?

With regard to the photo of the Italian Tornado, should I assume that was a more recent photo due to the fact that Meteors were onboard or was that an earlier photo with dummy missiles?

Using Google or just looking at Wikipedia will answer that question.

It's a pretty old(ish) image, possibly around '08 - '09, maybe sooner. That was around the first time I seen it at least so it's not really a confirmation on my behalf.

                    Scooter,
Can the Typhoon use the SDB or a similar weapon???
No. Not yet at least anyway. SPEAR II is slated for Typhoon later on, I presume once Storm Shadow and Meteor as well as a few other enhancements are integrated first. There's "talk" of the RAF actually bypassing Brimstone and going straight for SPEAR II instead, also slated for the F-35B. The RAF have also been looking at the SDB too. Similar weapons, the Diehl PILUM class weapons have been under consideration and development for the Luftwaffe, PILUM was launched from a Luftwaffe Tornado in 2008 for testing purposes. It's quite difficult, if one isn't as informed as others, to keep up what's going on, things seem to change on a weekly basis albeit in a positive way.

More recent images of Typhoon/Meteor trials.

                    An earlier one.

That is what I am talking about. As in many cases you don't need 2,000, 1,000, or even 500 lbs PGM to take out a target. So, it's much better to have the option to attack more targets on a single mission.

Indeed! For example, during Operation Ellamy in 2011, RAF Typhoons only had the 1,000lb Paveway II for A/G sorties but when they needed the weapons for built up areas surrounded by civilians, they reduced the Paveway II's HE or used inert Paveway IIs to take out armoured vehicles or a specific area.

By the way, that image of Typhoon with SPEAR IIs is over-ambitious.

It might be overambitious but MBDA were demonstrating the versatillity of the system (which is SPEAR 3 btw).

Combine this with the multiple carriage in each of the F35B internal bays, they are saying that the UK has all it needs between Typhoon and F35B going into the future. 16 Spear 3 with 60-100mile range is quite a capability for an aircraft that isn't as stealthy as it LM counterpart.

DA7 somewhere around the timeframe mentioned by EEL.

This shot is from 2008 showing IPA2 in support of the Meteor development campaign just before the aircraft was upgraded to a T2 equivalent standard. IPA4 was used for similar trials at the same time.

I was thinking more of the configuration of the inner stations. There's no room for the landing gear...

No weapons on board, apart from a single AMRAAM from the image's perspective, but a wonderful picture nevertheless.

Those are from Flight 1435. It's maybe noteworthy that it's a life AMRAAM round. Indeed a nice shot!
