The Mainstays should be kept white/grey IMHO.

That sort of dark drab would look pretty good on the regular airlifters though.

I thought Shoigu was going to put an end to the Serdyukovisms?

EDIT: It's a tad hard to decipher the full r/n but it looks like RF-50602, which is supposed to be an A-50U (and also seems to match the '33'):
    http://russianplanes.net/id94456

You'll also note in the 2012 photo there that the fin assembly and radome matches the ones in Berkuts photo, whereas the rest of the body corresponds to an older A-50. Noteworthy is that said fin assembly also strongly resembles that of the finished 76MD-90A's, with the darker overall color and white ring around the tip of the fin/stabilizer fairing.

In my eyes that would suggest that the airframe in question underwent a gradual upgrade starting last year and that it was finished now - an A-50U with everything around it corresponding to some kind of new "Il-76 series standard" (sans the structural improvements of the 476/MD-90A and its spawn). Maybe?

Real, and it is A-50U. More pics from where it was moded, before full paint tho:

PS: And it the fin was NOT changed structurally. It is same fin, not some "Il-476" fin that you seem to say it is.

I said sans the structural improvements... Just remarking on the coloration.

                As suspected, not "real" SM3's:

                  How can u tell?
They are singel seaters and looks to have some kind of upgrade going..

                  Edit:
Isn't all the Su-25SM3 singel seaters?

Eh, no idea how to make sense of that last question.

Anyway, they look exactly like "vanilla" Su-25SM does. Even the cockpit is almost exactly the same. (and matches perfectly the SM3 "prototype") These SM3 frames lack the promised new sensor stuff and the ECM pods.

07 is forgiven, because that one was delivered during/before summer, so that is just SM.

I thought the new SM3 pods were all external mounted, you sure this is definitely not SM3?

Also what is the deal with the delivery pace....10 were supposedly already delivered in 2013, but the plan was for 12 this year, and I have trouble believing it was done THAT early. Left overs from 2012?

I think these could be upgraded airframes that were not delivered in time in 2012. Or just shuffled from another location.

The ECM pods are pylon based for sure. So you can of course be correct they are just not attached. When it comes to the new optics, i don't think it was ever mentioned as being external? Either way, there is no trace of it on these SM3's. Neither is there any trace of the new coms. Basically there is nothing whatsoever SM3 specific that was promised on these frames.

For me, it is a fish til it is proven it is a shark.

Do you know how many Su-25SMs have been delivered till early 2012?

Yup. Although if you want start of 2012 you would have to subtract a few numbers obviously. 07 was delivered sometime during summer i think.
