Hello Etienne, nice to read you again, it's Jeddah airport (Saudi Arabia) in 1948 (VIP transport C-47 for Saudi officials, tails coded SA-R-1 to SA-R-3).

                      All three SA-R together....nice.
And for the roundel, it seems to be same kind of emblem but with arabic text around....

I finally got a clearer view, here (many pictures of the aircraft, just click right/left) : http://www.jazz707.com/LocalAirport/...11/i-5p3ZFHt/A

This is very good, but note the difference in sword painting style, and some different style of Arab letters, compared with black/white photos, on which those emblems are quite clearly visible.
This is "museum" version of marking.

Hard to say ... it's probably a repainted aircraft but it seems really close to SA-R-1 color image in post # 687 (first), with "small" swords on the green flag and swords "full green" in roundels.
The possibility of slight different styles of roundels on the three C-47 is a possibility.
But you might be right ...

                              the story continues

There is a model from the SA-R-1

                              with this text:
Herpa states: After the founding of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s national airline in 1946, naturally the DC-3 belonged to the basic equipment of the royal fleet. The original of this model, registered SA-R-1, which is completely made of metal, was given to the king in 1945 by no less than US president Roosevelt. Two more were added in 1946 and these three machines flew until 1978.

Nothing strange or unexpected here. This is good known fact.

"One of the oddest B-47B conversions was the "CL-52", which was a B-47B loaned in 1956 to the Royal Canadian Air Force to test the big Orenda Iroquois turbojet for the Avro Canada CF-105 Arrow interceptor. Canadair attached the Iroquois engine to the right side of the rear fuselage near the tail, of all places, simply because there was no other place to put it. Flying the CL-52 was reportedly a nightmare." ( http://www.airvectors.net/avb47_2.html )
Also the color photos of CL-52 exist.

                                          2 roundels from czechoslovakia.
Note the square ones on the Avia BH-9 and the position of the blue part on the helo (normal the blue portion is facing to the front/forward)
