Been here before

She's dead Im affraid, there's no talking to the owners, totally unaproachable Im affraid....:(

First time I've actually seen an individuals name mentioned.

I also know that approaches made by Newark have been turned down ... I'm told over many years! :(

why do people do this? :( it seems especially with aircraft, that aircraft who are owned by people who dont know how to/havent the money or simply dont look after them, are destined to rot into nothingness for no apparent reason, when there are many who would offer said aircraft a welcome home :(

At this particular location is was originally designed to 'advertise' the vehicle site to passing traffic on the A1 - they also had a fire engine with large turntable ladder extended into the sky and a 'dummy' strapped to the top!!

I get the feeling it's a bit beyond preservation - it looks unfit for anything except scrap now sadly!

How Ironic. By virtue of being there, and being photographed over the years, she has served as a smoking gun, for the council to prove that the yard hasnt been doing any business for years. She has sealed her own fate to be squashed. the thing is well beyond the pale anyhow.

Is it even beyond the scope of a cockpit project?

I know I am going to take some flack for this but .....
I think it looks great !
I would have it in my garden just like that, and before you judge me think about how many times you have looked at the scrap yard thread.

I would imagine not.
All F2's were stripped before they were put out as decoys.

I’m not a ‘Lightning weights expert’ and this is a genuine question - what does the tail down attitude tell you?

The last time I passed the airframe I don’t recall the nose being supported.

Looks like you went in Aeropark before the new fences went up and they tried to get the new Planning Permission!

'Zaps'

I know it is very common for service aircraft to get zapped from time to time but I think you may have gone a little over the top with your zaps on your last photo visit Aeropark!:p

Thanks 320psi – I believe that you might be fairly local to the site – I was many years ago having been born in Balderton and I still have relatives that live there.

Do you know how it was transported to the site – usual wing cuts etc? [sorry 320psi - I missed the "as she was cut inboard of the oleo's" reference]

Does anyone have any pictures of the delivery?

320 psi

Is there anything in her that you would find desirable/useful to keep your two going?

Just curious Paul
