No idea on that one, rlucas

First thought was some Grumman, but no joy there. Oh yes, I have sorted my IT gremlins, and can post a new "wot plane" when this one's been sorted.

FleetShadower, nope Grumman is not in the right direction, although with that landing gear I can see why you thought why...

      Wrong country as well!

          Perhaps some licence-built Mexican aircraft...?

JP, well you are getting closer... It is Mexican! Not a licence built aircraft though... It was a one off...

                Hey groundhugger!

Yes a very obscure aircraft it is yes! There are very, very few places you can find info on this one. Even for a interear aircraft!

This one can be found in the Flight archives! Somewhere between 1930 and 1935. It was a long range aircraft intended for record flights. Propelled by a Pratt and Whitney Wasp. designed by a certain mr. Watter

I'll give it one more day, then I'll give the thread to FleetShadower again. This one might be a bit much...

                  Hi Roel!

After you provided us with all information needed to find this one in Flightglobal, we can finally call it MWT-1. Some sources call it a TNCA MWT-1.

While intensely searching the net for this one I found another picture of the type (besides a lot of other obscure stuff) as seen below without any reference to the type shown, given my nonexistent capabilities in the Spanish language.

I Know it is not probably that, but it reminds of something latter: canadair (perhaps its the fin shape).
Is it from North America at least?

It is indeed North American (not the company and not Canada). The two famous names are the builders and the designer (who was also responsible for a production amphibian, albeit by a new and smaller manufacturer).
This one first flew in 1944.

Goodyear Duck. The designer Thruston/Thurston? then designed the Teal.

I would say more than close enough.
The designer is indeed Mr. David Thurston who than continued with the Colonial C-1 Skimmer which became the Lake La-4 and the rest is history.
Grumman is also correct, but the aircraft is the G-65 Tadpole.
Of course Mr. Thurston also designed the Teal.

Fleet Shadower is at the helm !
