Blimey indeed! Good call resurrecting this, Geoff! Great to see Mark's paintings coming to life.

The past year and then some has been slow going for me for various reasons, but 2018 should be lots better. For now some Luft'46 violence that was created for a couple of Luftwaffe secret projects bookazines by Dan Sharp for Mortons Media.

Anybody fancies a guess at what plane it has shot down?

This image was also released as print by AviationGraphic by the way.

The unit emblem is that of 2./EJG 2, a night fighter replacement unit, which explains the title of the piece "The New Generation":

Lastly another image that features on the title page of above-mentioned bookazine, showing a hypothetical first prototype of the Henschel P 122 extreme-altitude bomber.

This too has been released as a print by AviationGraphic.

Next year should see more artwork of real planes again.

      Hi All,
Skyraider3D & Trumper - Yes I still keep an eye out on what's happening and when I see something I like I let people know. Loved your future concepts
images I already posted them in this thread from the 4th/11 https://forum.keypublishing.com/show...craft-projects .

All you can do is your best when painting drawing etc. it takes practise and time along with patience when creating a piece of art no matter what level of
artistic skill you have and I applaud all you artists who give us the observer the chance to view your works the main thing is you never give in and
      produce the images we like....

I admire those that have the artistic talent to produce the magnificent paintings that appear in this thread.

At school in the early sixties I gave up art in favour of chemistry and subsequently failed that at O-level.

Around that time my ATC squadron held an art competition which I happened to win. The CO, thinking I had some ability, 'commissioned ' me to produce a painting of the Spitfire VB he flew in 1942 when with 133 (Eagle) Squadron. He loaned me some photos and the result is attached.

That was over 50 years ago and I wonder whether it was ever framed and what happened to it. The squadron CO in question was Ervin Miller who went on to fly P-47s, his day job back then was personnel manager at the MG Car Company but work pressures meant his time as CO was unfortunately short lived.

That's a nice piece of work and a lovely reason behind the commision.

What is the reason for leaving the Lanc wingtip out of the painting? I find as a photographer it is very annoying! ref Postlethwaite time lapse...

Being able to paint pictures of that quality is certainly a gift.
A few years ago I was talking to an elderly chap who lives just up the road from me. He paints for his own
pleasure and let me have a look at them. They were all beautiful paintings, but he has never sold any, and
very few people have seen them. I couldn't help thinking that it was a wasted talent.

                    Hi All,
scotavia - Why not e-mail Mark ? I am sure you'll get an honest and more in depth answer than anybody on the forum would answer matey....

~Alan~ - Having a gift like painting is just amazing but at the end of the day like you said he does it for " his own pleasure ". He also does
not have the added pressure of producing a piece to a deadline or will have to face any dissatisfaction if the piece is not what the commissioner had in
mind. Another thing to consider if he took the decision to paint commercially would it then take the enjoyment he gets because of that added pressure ?

Back on track so to speak having a mooch as you do I came across John.D.Shaws latest masterpiece (Prey For Mercy-Bottom Image) This is the final creation in the triptych story of (December 1943, when Luftwaffe ace Franz Stigler encountered the mortally-wounded B-17 Ye Olde Pub). You can read the back story this and the other two creations beneath each image, interesting facts behind the creation of PFM here:-https://www.facebook.com/johnshawaviationart/

                                  Hi All,
Just thought I would mention the latest masterpiece from Simon Atack. ZEPPELIN INTERCEPT featuring Captain Hubert Solomon 33 Sqn. RFC . His
attempted interception of a German Naval Air Service L30 class Zeppelin flying a Royal Aircraft Factory BE2C aircraft. Night of FEBRUARY 12 1917.)
Myself as a long time fan of his artwork I think it is another well thought out and painted piece of artwork, the videos (L2R)below show how his creation comes to life.....

                                          Hi All,
I have just been on https://www.facebook.com/hawkertyphoonRB396 and thought this should be given a shout out as I assume many actually on the forum want to see this project succeed GAvA.

You can buy a print created by the artist Neil Hipkiss GAvA, purchase directly from the projects web site shop :-https://hawkertyphoon.com/webshop/?p...6-neil-hipkiss Although many probably have a Typhoon print already the proceeds will help with the success of achieving their goal.
