-If I had to choose an event to take my frand-parents to (not that I have any) I'd be torn between
Old Warden - much more intimate, you can stay closer to the car if necessary.
Legends - fantastic show for enthusiasts, but possibly less ideal for a 'suprise' visit for firstimers. Crowded, queues for the bog, need to be there early, can't sit in / near the car.
Typing this I've decided that OW is the better bet.
You may get other opinions.

-Hi,
Does anyone know any of the planes that will or may possibly be appearing this year please?
Yes, the fighter collection do!
Sorry couldn't resist! :D

-I guess it depends to an extent on what they would be interested in seeing. If WWII Piston engines is your bag, then I guess Legends would suit. If, however they would appreciate the more intimate approach, as Moggy says, combined with a fantastic atmosphere and some very special and unique aircraft, go to Old Warden (which is also a lot cheaper!).

-Old Warden, every time.
Of course I'm completely unbiased... ;)

-I don't think that that is fair to Steve. It was a silly and pointless argument, and should have been buried a long time ago.

-Actually curious as to where the words Old Warden appeared in the original question.
Both are great events/nostalgia hits. If (f)grand parents have recent memories Legends may be more relevant and visually and aurally stunning.
If Mrs grand parent doesn't like a/c then Old|Warden has other options.

I took the words 'best one(s)' to mean it was a choice between Leg Ends and something else, rather than Leg Ends or staying at home, hence OW as it is in approximately the same area, makes a viable comparison.

I could say there is no comparison.

Agreed, but OW does have some charm for the non-enthusiast.

I was 110% OW there Moggy.
Simply the best place by miles. Or is that Miles?--as in Woodley.

I think these are the truest words.
There is no comparison, they are both excellent venues in their own right and we can't really say what Whitefox's oldies are going to enjoy.
Who knows? They might really prefer a jet/heavy metal show.

-Well, I'm sure us Legends attendees won't object to the Old Warden people coming to join us at the Red Lion. Lets put things into the proper perspective after all..

-Whitefox.
What's going to be at Legends is an irrelevant question. If you go you'll be served an afternoon of the best W.W.II fighters and friends flying. The real question is what's going to be interesting for your family.
You probably need to think about what sort of aviation is going to be a winner with your family. If what is widely regarded as 'the best W.W.II warbird show' will be the right kind of aeroplanes, then Flying Legends is it. If they aren't that bothered about W.W.II fighters but want a nice day out, Old Warden beats Duxford hands down.
If they tire easily, then Old Warden would be better, as it's basically a big field where everything's in easy reach and there are few queues - for people less or uninterested in aviation there's a bigger 'wow' to be had at Old Warden.
Much as we here might love the day at Legends, if you can't tell a Spitfire from a Hurricane (or, indeed a Mustang) it's going to be a very repetative afternoon. How's your family on aviation history?
Old Warden will give you Edwardian aeroplanes (always a hit with the ladies) through to post W.W.II; aerobatics, plus varieties of colour and shape. Legends is probably the most narrow airshow in terms of it's presentation - great if you like that area, not if you don't or if, like me, you find 8 Mustangs no more exciting than 6 Mustangs.
Hope this helps.
