-Great pictures Airic!
Saw the same aircraft depart Farrnborough for Australia in 1994.
Just a small footnote, a big thumbs down for corporate cowards BMW who refused to allow the team to fly the Vimy in the USA due to product liability issues, grounding the aircraft (IIRC, just before Oshkosh a couple of years ago) and forcing another change of engines. 'The Ultimate Driving Machine'? No, and not engine builders of note anymore, either.

-Wonderful pictures! A question for someone more knowledgable: are those variable pitch props? I know that they didn't have those with the earlier Chevy/BMW engines. Why the change?

-airic,
many thanks for posting.
Have you got anymore close-ups of the engines?
I'm trying to work out what method they use for cooling (I can't see any radiators).
Any details-information appreciated.
Cheers
Andy

-Eric,
The pictures are great.
Having seen the Vimy fly at OSH 2001, a major disappointment for me personally was the sound generated by whatever engines she had mounted then. I was expecting "chugga chugga" or "blat, blat, blat"; instead the sound reminded me of an enormous ultralight.
Any chance the sound effects have improved over time? What were your impressions?

Work is progressing well at the Toronto Aerospace Museum on the Vimy. It is slated to depart Wednesday with a stop in Ottawa before flying on to St. Johns Newfoundland.
These are some images I took today.
Happy Landings,
Eric
