First Huey formation in almost 50 years...

Photo was taken during fire fighting ops in Australia today. Pic was taken from B model #699 of the 129th Assault Helicopter Company.... & the one with the bambi bucket ahead of it is H model #497 also of the 129th Assault Helicopter Company. Same unit as #509 in the UK.

#699 recently had it's Vietnam nose art reinstalled.

As I write this I'm on a holiday....when passing through Montana I noted a civil Blackhawk and Chinook doing fire fighting.
The Chinook had Billings titles, so it's a recent demob, not the older civil Chinooks flown by long time operator Columbia.

As far as Hueys go, our state has a fleet of H models for firefighting, so I see one often.
There are two sides to every story. The truth is usually somewhere between the two.

"First Huey formation in almost 50 years..." First in almost 50yr for this location? For this photographer? For these airframes? I'm confused.

B model is based in Lismore, H model based in Albion Park.
