Got my ticket sorted! And for the Caen Carpiquet show - which interestingly is £15 a ticket...

I believe a number of the Daks are due to arrive at Duxford on Sunday 2nd June, in case anyone wants to head up then and get some pictures. The main airshow will be 4/5th June, as Jack's thread title states.

Looking forward to it!

I'll probably end up there instead of the may airshow this year!

I've got my tickets and cannot wait! But.... is there anything in the rumor that Trumps visit to the beaches means a 75 mile No Fly Zone, and therefore the whole thing wont take place on the 6th?

Will the Sunday be standard admission to Duxford? i.e no ticket

Olly_s - I assume so, unless IWM opt to close for the day. There doesn't seem to be any reference by the DoN team to the 2nd June arrivals, so I guess it's just a regular day.

rgb - I'm not sure what the schedule is for the 6th. The Daks cross the Channel late afternoon on Weds 5th, with paratroopers jumping over Normandy between 4-5pm. I think they'll be escorted over the Channel by Spitfires and Mustangs.

Regardless, it's going to be an amazing event and I'm thoroughly looking forward to it on both sides of the Channel.

I wonder what the route will be? I suppose passing over the South East (East of London} is unlikely?

Flight path and exact timings will be released within the next couple of months.

I believe the flight path will be to the east of London. Had hoped they would come west and over some of the old bases like Greenham, and Membury and then out via Portsmouth. Somebody I know asked the question of the organizers and was told they would go east.

I secretly have my fingers crossed that as the vast majority of 2, 3 & 7 Para are now based in Colchester.....If it is I wont be far away. :eagerness:

The website says the 4th June practice jump will be in the UK. Are they parachuting back into Duxford or is that just a take off location for the aircraft?

Surely its a bit 'risky' to land at Duxford with Round parachutes (i.e not steerable) with the M11 being so close? Although I wouldn't be surprised if authorities thought that

Modern 'round' chutes are steerable - just not as manouverable as square chutes :) I've jumped both. There is a pretty big DZ at Duxford - they'll do wind drift checks and I'm sure it would be fine. After all the Falcons have dropped there for the past 40 years with no issues.

Hi all, I’m one of the jumpers for the event, the mass practice jump is taking place at Duxford and landing aircraft and jumpers back at Duxford.
there are no civvies jumping in France on the 6th due to security and various heads of states flying about it with be serving military only.
the chutes we use are steerable mainly MC-1 b-c and SF10 types.

So do you have an idea which date and the time they will do the practice and how many aircraft will be involved?

I have tickets for Caen, and am in Normandy for the week 1-9 June.

I will be looking for other events in Normandy, and any news on the location where the parachutes will jump would be much appreciated

Thx in advance

Presumably that means the UK jump will be bigger to see as there will be a combination of civvies and military?

I can only visit Duxford on one day and still can't decide which day will be the best.
