I hope one day we will see Bluebird on Coniston Water but I'm just amazed that the 150mph run on the Isle of Bute somehow escaped my notice!

In a way it does a diservice to those that restored her as the publicity to be honest during the restoration wasn't great up until it was restored and launched and then to cancel the main event more or less gives them negative publicity and upsets those that had booked accomodation and made plans to be there.

Thanks for the interest. As I write, we still have no idea what's happened in Coniston and why the group there has bailed on organizing an event. The best place to keep up with all things Bluebird now is our twitter feed, where you can also read Bill's statement which contains the very brief email that we received from Coniston in full!

(Also, there's also an existing thread for the boat, should a friendly passing mod care to merge things- https://forum.keypublishing.com/foru...-s-bluebird-k7)

I was in the office as Bill gave his interview, so we're well up to speed.

Tricky one the ownership, if the restoration was well under the way before she donated it, then I cannot see how she could cut them out of it. salvage rights etc and who owned the hull would also come into it, such as was it insured for hull loss, in which she would not own it.
If it wasn't well under way then its a bit of a more fool them for continuing without it having set in stone as to who gets what, that said the parts built for it and the engine etc are not part of the recovered hull so should either be removed or paid for and the work should also be paid for... look forward to updates.Such a sad state of affairs.

I'm 100% with Bill on this. It's a living, breathing thing. Not to be stuffed and mounted in a museum that only a few tourists will visit. The offer of display at the Ruskin Museum for part of the year and runs for the other months seems highly reasonable.

It's a boat, not a boat shaped object.
If anybody ever tells you anything about an aeroplane which is so bloody complicated you can't understand it, take it from me: It's all balls. RJM.
