-Now these bring back some memories. I've fitted, removed, serviced, and tested these, while working on Vulcans at Scampton.
They were fitted just above the right-hand (looking rearwards) back seater, at about head height.
They could fire red, green and red/green twin very cartridges, and also a "window" type decoy cartridge.
I'm sure the Nimrod had one fitted as well, but it's location escapes me at the moment.

On the Forgotten Weapons channel, a pair of British flare pistols for use from pressurised cabins ( mainly the V-bombers and VC-10 I think ). Could fire signal colours and chaff.
Mr McAllum's videos are usually much more in-depth than this but as he says flare pistols aren't his area of expertise. Not a lot of info here as a result but interesting to see the mechanism:
