And so dawns another year at Duxford...

Tuesday morning 07:50 ish

Tuesday morning 07:50 ish

It was like that at Croydon around that time too... two and a half hours later low clag and rain. As Bob Tuck said: "January; it's just one long bloody Monday morning".

Four Buchons? Can we look forward to a new formation act at Legends "die vier Reiter" this year?

Duxford Tuesday 2nd January:

'Sharkmouth' was towed to Hangar 2 North this morning, to join two other Mustangs in hibernation. Many thanks to Martin C. for pointing out a connection dating back almost thirty years when Sharkmouth, Ferocious Frankie and Miss Helen were together as Cisco, Moose and Miss L for the 1989 filming of Memphis Belle. All now hangared with B-17G Sally B / Memphis Belle !

Contents of H2N dragged out as I arrived at a wet DX this morning, so grabbed some quick snaps of the P-51s...

Thought to be the first warbird flight of the year at Duxford this morning when Spitfire TR9 was up for 3 sorties.

Where once warbirds hibernated over the long winter months, now they are active all year round... a sign of global warming...? :o Sorry, climate change...

Duxford Friday 5th January:

It was indeed glorious to see a Spitfire out and about despite the bitter January weather:

Also for our entertainment, Sea Fury WG655 was out for an engine run or two:

However, the highlight was a first glimpse of ARC's latest masterpiece, BBMF Chipmunk T.10 WG486 now in Bristol UAS markings and looking ready for another 'first flight'. Entered RAF service a mere 66 years ago!

I quite like the markings on the Chipmunk! A very interesting aircraft to look at, and it looks fantastic.
