Out near Oxford today, saw Huey helicopter with a US reg. Then later on an Antonov An-2 biplane. Been great if they were flying together.

Had the pleasure of seeing several live firsts for me: Typhoon, A-400, Alpha Jet's and Rafale- All rather rare in the USA.

Went by Langley Air Force base on April 21st as there was a multi national exercise going on and the Patrouille de France was there on a stop as well. I watched a noon sortie start up and fly out: 4 FAF Rafale's (3 twin seaters), 4 Typhoons, @6 F-15's, @8 Raptors and 4 T-38's. Other Raptors in the pattern. Was very close to the Rafale's on start up- they have a very distinct "organ" like howl during part of the start up sequence.

Interesting to see the differences on departure. Rafales and F-15's used afterburner for departure to about 500' agl. F-22's and Typhoons used dry thrust. The F-22 seemed to gain energy/speed so much more quickly and effortlessly than the others. F-15's were the loudest. All used a similar takeoff profile, were airborne in similar distances, and used a right had departure. Very neat for me.

A pair of yellow prop planes doing aerobatics together for about 15 minutes over Reading this afternoon. Does anybody know anything more about them?
