    P-51D Mustang N167F

I see that she now has gun ports on the leading edges. Has the wing been fully modified to incorperate the guns or are they stuck on the leading edge without modifying the wing?

Yes, I saw they had been added too.

I'm pretty sure deactivated or replica guns were not fitted during the work carried out at Shoreham and Bournemouth, so the gun bays will probably remain useful as extra luggage bays! (Or I suppose they could be modified and fitted with auxiliary wing tanks).

I did see some pictures posted whilst the aircraft was a Hurn, and note that the already modernised cockpit has had more work to make it even more modern!

    Cheers

Wasn't this the one that they were supposed to be fitting a glass cockpit to?

It did look that way in the pictures I saw.

Some sort of Garmin unit in the centre of the instrument panel, best described as looking like a very large moving map GPS!

          Cheers

Well, there are some in the latest edition of Flypast, of the aircraft that is.

Although I read the article the other day, I forgot that it was actually fitted with gun bay tanks when it was rebuilt/overhauled for Anders Saether in the early to mid 80s.

So no chance of guns, which I dare say would be out of keeping with the non stock, Glass cockpit, and mods.

(EDIT) I Found the pictures of G-SHWN (as it is registered now) at Hurn showing the Garmin unit: -

It's said article that i noticed the guns. Rod Dean told me that Spencer Flacks P-51 had an amazing auto pilot system fitted, best he's come across in a vintage aircraft.
