Cast element in the leading edge and a nice inspector's stamp.

Hi Spark Plug

Yes made by Armstrong Whitworth, but they also made Albermarles and Lancasters in WW2. I do not recognise it as a Whitley parts. If you can find a part number I can tell you either way....

kind of looks like a tailplane tip that fairs into the rudder on a lanc

That number is out of range for the Whitley. It's probably an Albemarle part

Elliot, I thought about the albermale... the tip of it with that rod coming out is too small for the arm that operated the rudder on the lanc.. Definitely not Whitley then?

Cheers John, I found a vague reference to a special duties Albermarle crashing at Stradishall but unable to open the page. I will revert to (old school) and have a look and see if there is a mention in the history of Stradishall airfield book . Kev

Trawled through the book last night, unfortunatly couldnt find a reference to an Albermarle crash at Stradishall, so if anyone has any info from Chorley I would be most grateful. Kev
