-Another Gazelle appeared late in the day
And a departing Squirrel made for an excellent leaf-blower!
In the hangar there was a good MV display
Including a former YAM resident Green Goddess
Nice to know these historic hangars will continue to be a home of aviation...

-Great event and a fantastic airfield. I can see me making a few visits over the year.
Oh and the warmest hangar I have ever been in :)

-Super photos which have really brightened up my day in dreary January! I had a good tour at RAF Church Fenton in the late 1980s and was very saddened to see it close as an RAF station. I'm delighted that it has found a new lease of life as a civilan airfield, it's far too good an aviation gem to lose! Two pics from my time there in 1989 and 1990 - Happy Days!

Rather than go to YAM as usual yesterday I attended a historic event at another Yorkshire airfield, the fly-in at the former RAF Church Fenton to mark it's passing from an RAF airfield to a civilian owned and operated airfield. Over 200 aircraft attended, among them a good smattering of historic types. I thought I'd share some of the day at this historic airfield.
Some shameless flying chicken leg action!
Nice to see a red and white RAF trainer in front of the tower again!
The circuit was a tad busy at times...
