-I noticed the new admission prices were displayed at Duxford today. As previously mentioned, the standard entry stays the same, but a new fee for children (5-15) is offset by a new 'Family Ticket'
Not yet on the website is a very attractive Annual Pass at £22.50 or less, which gives unlimited access for the year (apart from airshows). Better value than FoD if you plan to visit more than once a year!

But with FoD you get discount on air show tickets/shop/restaurant.:D

-Ouch!
That new child fee is a big hit for those of us who often take the whole family along.
It will be just me from now on.

-Why don't children qualify for free entry???

-Because the government is reducing the grant by tens of % year on year, sadly they need to maintain a positive cash flow and income.

-I didn't realize they get a grant. Is the grant dependant on what they charge for admission, or is it the other was round ?
The annual pass would be good for me and my wife. We don't go to airshows, or spend much (if anything) in the shop.
What we would save on food by joining FOD, wouldn't come close to offsetting the £38 difference.

-Don't forget, free admission for B-17 Sally B supporters except on airshow days. Just renewed mine.

-I second that. I'm sure DCW and Penpusher will do their usual wonderful job of keeping us informed.

The IWM receive a grant in aid from the DCMS of about £20,000,000. Most big national museums do but unfortunately it is decreasing every year.
Great photos in this thread (as always).

-I can still see the puffs of black exhaust as Black 6 came in for an 'emergency' landing then hopping over the M11 as if it was yesterday...
Such a sad end to it's flying career.

-I can too Bob. I also remember somebody stood near me saying " does`nt it sound fantastic" and thinking, no it does not.
I was waiting to go flying for the first time at the end of the show. I did get that Rapide flight a year later.
I cant wait to see the 109E but nothing will ever compare to Black 6 for me.

Taking swiftly over from this one:

Here is the new thread for Duxford activities in 2015.
Happy New Year to you all, and thanks to all the contributors in previous years for making it such a good reference of activities at Duxford. Many highlights, but the Blenheim has to be Number 1 for me!
