We hosted a small event for Project Propeller today, for those WWII aircrew veterans who arrived by road at the main event back in June. The weather was pretty grim, but we managed to fly all of the eleven veterans who were able to spend the day with us.

Amongst the visitors was our very own forumite, Tim Elkington, ATA 'Spitfire Women' Joy Lofthouse and Molly Rose and Operation Varsity Horsa glider pilot Leslie Kershaw, who I was privileged to fly. He'd last been airborne with the VR in a Prentice in 1953 but very quickly got 'back in the saddle' stooging around at low level over the River Severn and thoroughly enjoyed himself.

Their presence brought the museum to life today. Such a privilege.

'Pub Landlord' comedian and Airborne Forces aficionado, Al Murray, who gigged in Cheltenham last night popped in too!

Excellent idea. Well done to everyone at the JAM. The museum is one of those on my 'must visit' list !

Indeed it does! You wouldn't know whether Leslie Kershaw took part in the pre-Varsity training Operation Riff-Raff, would you? If he did, I'd love to get in touch.

Best wishes,

Adrian

Already asked him Adrian. I'm trying to piece together Leslie and Ken's service history from what they can remember and what records I can find. I've got a copy of Leslie's log book so remind me of the dates and I'll have a dig through it.
