Lion Rock - the Chipmunk G-AOTM was Sir Peter Masefield's machine. Two others were built -one crashing in France .

      Chipmunk G-AOTM (Bristol aero conversion)

I photographed this aircraft at a Fly-in at Elstree in 1960 presumably not long after the conversion had taken place it would seem that year.

            Rover Turbine

Slightly off topic, but this was at the 1966 Farnborough airshow.
on my large format original, the sign says Rover Turbine Chipmunk.
            Anybody know anything about it?

G-APTS was sold to Australia in 1994 as VH-ZIZ and is still airworthy there.

G-ATTS was powered by the Rover TP90 (turbo Prop 90 hp - actually produced 100 bhp) Wolston, a gas turbine developed from the good old 1S60 auxilary motor, and the motor car gas turbine engines.
Originally it was WP895, but suffered a landing accident while with the Southampton UAS, It was modified by Hants and Sussex Aviation in early 1966 with the turbine engine.

Seems a shame that the engine and the idea of a parrafin burning Chipmunk didn't go further.

Bob Mitchell sold G-APOY to Norway and has probably regretted it ever since!

It'll take more than a post to communicate with Willip26 now.
