The loss of Spitfire MJ835- 26/3/45 Yugoslavia

The above Spitfire was lost in action over Yugoslavia with 73 Squadron whilst flown by P/O David Pratt.

As a man on our local memorial and with me having an interest in Spits I was keen to see if anyone could anything, the holy grail would of course be a picture of the wreck site.

From what I have gleaned the aircraft was hit by heavy flak at high altitude and despite being blown clear his parachute never deployed. The aircraft is said to have fallen near the village of Ostrozac, whilst his body came down near Jezerane(?). He was buried by the Germans and later reinterned to Belgrade CWGC Cemetery and was the last pilot of 73 Squ to be KIA in the war.

There is a photo of him on our website for anyone interested at http://www.wickfordmemorial.com

    Any help/info gratefully received

    Steve
