    I had a great opportunity to revisit Robins AFB Museum last month so here are a few of the airframes I missed on my last post. Enjoy...

    The UH-1N Twin Huey (first photo) seems to be ex-USMC and fresh from AMARG (note the inventory codes on the nose). The USAF still operates the survivors from its 79 Twin Hueys purchased in 1970. I wonder if they'll use retired Marine airframes to "top off" their fleet? They were hoping to get a replacement type, but that bit the dust in the latest budget. So used Marines airframes might be the way to go despite different avionics. The Marines have gone onto new UH-1Y...with larger engines and 4-bladed rotors.

    This Aero Commander has a radar nose, something not sen on the ex-Presidential example at the NMUSAF. Baugher's website says it's a civil 680F that was taken from a drug smuggler, then used by the Customs Service. That explains the radar but not the suprious AF markings.

    The UH-1F Huey looks in fine shape, I bet it's been inside for awhile.
    And the penultimate photo...I wish they clean up the C-124. It's a rare airframe and deserves better..but it would take up a lot of room inside.

        The USAF are looking at an upgrade programme for its UH-1s at the moment to keep them going just a little longer !! Does make you wonder why they are buying Russian helicopters for Afghanistan when useful types are being retired to AMARC.

            IIRC, it has something to do with types previously operated in the area.Local experience on the type.
            Besides, the Russianas make good helicopters...and they have to be less expensive than western types...
