-A fantastic project.
Koloman Mayrhofer and Eberhard Fritsch have done very well with this aeroplane over a lot of years.
Well done to Tex too for a sucessful first flight.

-Any ideas why it has a rounded front cowling instead of the usual wide spinner?

Yes because it represents a Series 253 Albatros D.III built by Oesterreichische Flugzeugfabrik AG (Oeffag) in Austria (Wiener-Neustadt), for the Austro-Hungarian air force.
As such it's fitted with a 225hp Austro-Daimler engine, as opposed to a Mercedes. This resulted in a rounded nose.

-Fantastic. What wouldn't you give to see that coming round the curve at Old Warden. All credit to the team that built that beautiful aeroplane.
