Is there any facility online where I can research Polish RAF aircrew?

Depends on what sort of information you seek.

All I have is a name - just curious to see what I can find.

How about telling us the name?

You would do better writing / visiting The Polish Institute and Sikorski Museum in London. They are very helpful, especially if you offer a donation.

I'd rather not do that just now....the gentleman's relatives are still alive , and, until I have made contact with them, I don't feel it would be polite to have his name bouncing around the internet.

They are indeed very helpful, and they have lots and lots of photoalbums of aircrew when I was there in 2001 researching Bogoslav Morski's crew. Unfortunatly they had no captions to go with them so indentifying aircrew was impossible.
