Contemporary newspapers noted Bill Lynn as being from Orbost, Victoria, Australia. A quick check of the phone book today showed that there are a number of families of the same surname still in Orbost. PM me if you need further assistance.

I just chanced on your post regarding William Archibald Lynn. Bill was my mother's older brother. (my uncle)
He still has one surviving sister Lu Trewin who lives in Marlo, about 14 kms from Orbost in Victoria. Lu is 85 and I stayed with her just last week.
I visited Bill's grave in Stonefall Cemetery, Harrogate last year. Quite an emotional visit.
