I am attempting to make a front cockpit of a Tornado GR1 as it would have been fitted out during the 1st Gulf war, I have a long way to go for it to be perfect and I have come to realise it will probably never be complete. the panels are not genuine, the left main panel is made from wood and the right one is made from cardboard! amd the whole front panel inclusing PMD and HUD is resting on top of a box. The left side console is also just a cardboard box! The throttles I recently discovered are from a F3 so not accurate but I will have to make do unless I ever manage to get hold of GR1 throttles (or GR4 if they are the same) a few of the instruments are also from F3 but I have discovered those particular ones are identical to GR1 so not a big issue there. I have quite a few parts which are not yet installed, such as the E-scope, Landing gear lever, flaps, slats Air/Br and wing poision indicator, 3 axes trim indicator, angle of attack indicator, g-meter, CWP, Brake pressure triple indicator, Magnetic standby compass, HUD camera controls, Engine controls, TFR controls, fuel managment panel, RWHR controls, Enviroment controls and Emergency UHF radio controls.

Still a lot of Tornado and a very good start. Is that a laser cut MDF left panel off of eBay? Looks like my old one!

It sure is! you could have cut out the hole for the e-scope whilst you were at it! :-)

I have a friend who has a jigsaw who thinks he can cut a hole for the e-scope but i d9ont think it will be as neat as being laser cut and i think it might be tricky becuase I have measured the hole and it would leave a very thin bit of MDF at the top which i think might break quite easily so I hope one day that a genuine panel becomes avaiable. I was speaking with someone who had a friend who apprantley does have the real panel and was trying to talk him rounf to selling itto me but he has not got back to me for a while.

I didn't have the scope to measure and couldn't cut the hole! There will be lots of them cheap, the day after you spend too much on a real one...

I got this far, then swapped most of it for Harrier bits. Click image for larger version

Cool, ere you going for a hybrid cockpit? (the module on top of the PMD is from a F3) You are right thought about bits will appear cheap as soon as I buy one, that has actually happened in the past! Did you finish of your Harrier project?
I'm going to my first aerobillia sale next month I am hoping I might be able to pick up something for my Tornado cockpit there.

Yep, come to think of it that is the only original part! I also spoke to the previous owner who has promised me some cockpit pictures I haven't seen before. Sorry I didn't see you but I think we were there on opposite days.
