Hello Forum,

my name is Matthias Dorst, and I am the webmaster of www.meiermotors.com . Reading this fantastic forum everyday, I think it would be interesting for you if I inform you about the latest news and projects at the MeierMotors shop in Bremgarten... hope so ;)

I will update the homepage nearly every week, but it is nearly impossible to translate the whole page into English. So my idea is to inform you via this forum and perhaps link to the page.

Okay ... latest news ... as you might know, the Spitfire MkVIIIc D-FEUR had a small cooling problem at the Duxford Flying Legends show. Returning back home it was time to maintain the plane a bit. As part of this maintanance efforts the Spitfire got new wing radiators installed.

Here the Spit in the shop ... what a beauty. By the way, this engine is not the "matching" engine. The original Rolls Royce Merlin is undergoing an overhaul at Mike Nixons Vintage V12´s in the United States. After the engine is back in Germany it will be mounted in the airframe and then this Spitfire has it matching heart !

One of the maintenance works is, as I said, to replace the leaking wingmounted coolers. MeierMotors is now able to replace the coolers of a P-51 Mustang, Buchon and Spitfire by new ones in a turnaround time of 6 weeks !

Here the new coolers for the Spitfire

Hi Matthias,

Your website is excellent, and your obvious enthuisiasm, infectious! Many of us in the UK have a lot of enthusiasm for the German restoration scene, so thanks for keeping us updated on events. For me especially, the FW190D ;)

Hello Matthias,

Thank you for your great post on the forums.

I was curious to know what 109 the wing in the picture belongs to?

confirm. The Buchon project is on the bench now. Really a great project. The airframe will get a DaimlerBenz heart. Lot of work ... ;)

Thought that might be Yagen's. That is some great news regarding the re-engine! I am here in Dayton and grew up with visiting that Bf-109.

Do you know if the wing in question has been restored to airworthy yet?

I was hugely fortunate to visit Bremtarten back in April 2009, completely unplanned, but recieved a welcome all the same.
Fantastic facility and probably the cleanest hangar floor I've ever seen and at the time it contained three of the shiniest P51's this side of the USA. As well as more Yak's than you could shake a stick at, alongside the FW190 project.

What are the plans with the ex-Jaquard FW190 which ditched during the summer and is now with Meier Motors as well?
Will it be fully restored to fly or made static
Cheers

Well, the WkNr 990013 (F-AZZJ) will be fully restored to fly. The plane was bought by a German enthusiast and the project will last about 3 years. Open is the engine-question, there are some nice ideas around, but nothing is fixed. I think I will open a new thread about this project if the community is interested.
