-They had raised the money for the memorial but were 500k short which was needed to pay for the opening ceremony. According to today's press, CMD has stepped in and said that the government will pay for the shortfall.

-That is good news but surely individual veterans were not legally financially liable for the shortfall, were they?

-Yes they were as they are trustee's .
